Train prefabs and prototyping tools available

Prototyping tools:

Really a very silly little thing. It’s just a prefab of 9 placeholders and their command maps icons. I use these to mark the tentative position of objectives in my map as I build up the structure. They’re very easy to see and the command map icon allows me to see where they are on the command map. Also helpful if you pass your early map out for feedback and input.

The red blocks are a func_group, so I position them, select all, and copy back into a test map where I’m mocking up my objectives. It’s easier for me to do all of my objectives in a test map as it compiles faster and I can check changes much easier. The placeholders allow me to position the objectives in the test map just right, so that later, I can just import my entire test map into my brushwork.

Here’s what it looks like:

Blocks in-map - you’ll have to edit the Description fields in the TOIs to fit your map

Train Prefabs
These are sized to complement the trains, locomotives, and coal cars found on the Wolfproject site. I believe the train and coal car were done by Midnight Oil with 2 other cars done by Aikon. Mine are quite available yet as seperate downloads, but if you need some trains let me know and I can make arrangements

WIP - Railcar mounted mobile crane

2 types of hopper cars, one open topped, one covered. Ladders on the side

Oil car. Ladders on the side

Box cars. You can position the sliding doors where ever you want. Brushes are cut in case you want to allow passage from box car to box car. Ladders on the ends

Cheers[/b]

Hi all,
Ifurita could you please, send me (by email or something) those train prefabs, I’m currently working on a map with a train station, and I have doubts about the size of the wagons. I already got a hold of a prefab by Oxygen, but I’m still with doubts.
Thanks!

Wow great idea with the place holders, and those prefabs look amazing. I already downloaded all the ones from the wolfproject site. Just one question though. What folder do I put prefabs like that so that I can use them with the map editor, and how would I access those models with the editor?

Extract the .map files into a seperate folder in /etman/prefabs (to keep /maps clean) or just extract them into /etmain/maps.
