Trading and Steam market

(GreenBanana) #1

Now that its moved to steam, there is no reason not to include the features.

Trading.
We see that in alot of games. If you get the same item twice, you just trade with a player who has got another item that you want more. It would be amazing if you had that in Dirty Bomb.

Are there plans for future implementation?

Sounds like a nice addition to the game , lets hope it comes

(balu) #3

yes please!

(Grave_Knight) #4

Uh, you do know that “trading” is for those silly collectible cards you get, right?

(Smoshi) #5

And possibly the crates and keys.
Hello CS: Bomb ;D

This. Yes, please.

Would be amazing to have different skin on our guns. But releasing those so early would perhaps make them look a little greedy… Nevertheless I would enjoy it :x

I think how the DB economy will work is right now related to the card loadout system, and being as slightly RNG as it is, high value loadouts will sell for a fair penny.

The problem arises though in what sense MORE will DB offer, there’ll likely be steam cards too, but besides crates which opens loadouts, and possibly skins, then what more can the DB economy offer?

I’ve already said it but, in my opinion, putting RNG with loadouts which can change the overall gameplay (I.E. smgs on proxy/aura and assault rifles on fragger/thunder) of the selected merc is not a good idea. Valve related games only put cosmetic items through RNG (except in TF2, but as far as I know all weapons can be obtainable by doing achievements or craft). Steam economy is working because people speculate way too much on what they have to offer. Putting this together with some top-tiers loadouts in DB (perfect balance is impossible to get, in any game), this can only lead to people selling those at a quite over-priced amount of money. Which finally turns the game into some kind of pay to win, because the ones able to have all the best loadouts will be the ones keen to put a nice stack on the table.

Instead of this keys/crates system, I’d prefer to get some sort of in-game money I can spend on what I really want. For people who just want to skip this, game may also sell them for real money. And only sell non-gameplay affecting items (there will be cosmetics for weapons and mercs) through real money or crates you have to open with real money keys.

PS : Sorry for my English, it’s not my native speaking. I hope my thoughts were clear enough.

Steam Inventory Service Now Available to Steamworks Developers

i cannot post urls, so google ^this, its a news post on steam.

if you guys (developers etc.) are smart, you really should take advantage of this.

An ingame trading system would add a whole new layer to the game, that would make DirtyBomb stand out from the rest (and right next to CS:Go).

Would love to see an official comment on this matter (in your own interest too), i guess this isnt something that is easily added (maybe it is?? API!!? idk), but I would like to hear your plans on this.

I’m not sure how the labor is spread among the developers team at the moment. I’m guessing they don’t have large teams such as Riot Games or Blizzard Entertainment has. They can put a team of people on developing solely skins for the game. Again, I’m not sure, but I think it’s a much different type of game over at Splash Damage. I don’t think they can afford to put people on developing skins and a trading system right now. The game is still in it’s closed beta, in which most importantly is fixing things that are negatively affecting the gameplay (such as balancing issues, glitches, bugs and so on).

If we do end up getting something like a trade system, I’d love to see something similar to Blizzard’s Hearthstone system. I’d much rather collect points through gameplay that I can use to purchase small ticket items with. Of course there would be a payment option to speed up this process or unlock a higher tier of items. Those items would be the same guns as in the game, but with a different skin, obviously. Stickers on those guns might also be a great idea. It seemed like this was quite a success in GS:GO.

I’m not a big fan of the crate and key system though. It’s very RNG based, which means you can end up purchasing a ton of keys and still not get anything. To make things worse, some random player might purchase one key and get that super rare item you’ve been after for a while. That can cause some serious irritation. But, let’s not exaggerate, it might still be quite fun to purchase keys and unlock mysterious crates. Insert thrilling soundtrack in the background :o

What CS:GO also does quite well is randomly reward players after each match with a small item. Those items are not rare or what so ever, but do surprise you every time you get something. I find it quite pleasant. What could be better in my opinion though is, as I said, rather play to unlock those rewards than have them rewarded at random. Another way to implement some addictiveness to the game I guess haha.

I think people will be pleasantly surprised

(distinquishedSandwich) #12

That has got to be the most half assed comment made for the sake of posting.

(Nail) #13

actually, yours is worse

but now, this one wins

(Meat) #14

I actually thought “orange” was a better one lol

(Nail) #15

that was good I thought, very profound

made more sense than the original post

(formalCap) #16

I agree to this idea , and since this game is so good , when it goes on open beta , making items tradable and making a steam market for this game will attract a lot of players and make them attached to it .

(laudatoryChain) #17

This seems like a very smart idea. First, players who recieve a card after hours of grinding to get cases to try and get a gold or trade up to a gold, don’t end up liking it, would have a way to get rid of it, and get one they do like. Second, if there is a community market on steam, they would make some money to be able to further develop the game. Lastly, it’s just common sense. When there is a game where a large amount of items can be aquired, people are going to want to use. Seeing as if you dont want to use credits to trade up but have a lot of cards, trading would end up being your only option.

I do hope the devs see this discussion and think about it

(appreciativeBuster) #18

Support.

(Zenity) #19

Make twenty accounts, collect the starter bonuses, buy crates, sell on the market until the economy is crashed. People will do that until each item costs 1 cent, and probably even then…

The only way a community market can work is with items which are earned at an equal rate and don’t benefit from multiple accounts. So either the start bonuses would have to be dropped, or the only tradable items have to be special items which cannot be bought with credits for example.

I’d like to see trading in the game as well.
