TL;DR Read instructions, especially if a warning covers your screen and implicitly asks you if you want to proceed.

There is a warning before you trade-in that states you might get the same card.
Also, little advice:
It’s not very economical to trade in Gold cards, best save those as failed attempts in case you’re aiming for Cobalts later. Trust me on that one.
Lol remember when we all complained about losing the ability to trade up same merc shortly, because SD had to add that message in?
I guess they do know what their doing XD
trade in is never worth it, always go for trade up. Except you are trading in crap cobalts.

But still cheaper than crafting a new Cobalt @ 475,000 credits and 864-lead cards.
If Cobalt is your end goal, you’re not going to want to stop before crafting a Cobalt you’d actually use.
