Trade-in for Containment War cards?

So the Containment War cards are limited edition cards ONLY available for 30 days, starting on the 28th October. Currently, the only way to obtain these is through very rare drop rates (0.3%) in CW equipment cases, or some-what rare drop-rates (10%) in the CW Elite cases.

However, the chance of getting a loadout you actually want (or for a merc you want) is EVEN lower than this, because of all the layers of RNG involved. We’ve also seen cases of people getting duplicate’s of the same CW card, which you can actually do nothing with right now. The actual maths for the case drops was worked out by a reddit user (I do not take credit for this, nor have I verified that it is 100% correct, but it looks reasonably so to me):

The actual drop rate for a CW card is 0.3%, meaning that statistically speaking you need to open more than 300 cases to get a single CW card - which is already more than most people open within 30 days.

And the final nail in the coffin is that even if I somehow manage to get a CW loadout (again, 0.3% chance), there is only a 1/17 (~5.9%) chance that this CW loadout is for the merc that I want, and then add to that a 2/9 chance that the card doesn’t suck (most mercs only have 2 viable loadouts).

This leaves me with a 0.003*(1/17)*(2/9) chance to get a usable card for the merc I want, which according to Wolfram Alpha equates to a 0.0039% chance, aka 1/25500, aka ONE in TWENTY-FIVE THOUSAND AND FIVE HUNDRED.

So… Would you like a trade-in option to get rid of your useless CW cards? My proposed trade-in would be 2 CW cards + 10,000 credits = 1 CW card for a merc of your choice.

DO NOT FORGET, TRADE-IN’S THEMSELVES SHOULD BE GETTING A PRICE/COST CHANGE IN THE NEAR FUTURE. Hopefully this will also happen before the event is over, so that we could also trade-in these pesky/useless CW cards. :frowning:

Got no duplicates yet but I have a fletcher that I will never use. I would like to see something come in to resolve the issue but SD please let the community chose.

One day I want to trade with actual players too, got a good card but I never use the merc :frowning:

More choice is always better. Might even motivate me to buy more cases if I had a bigger chance of getting what I wanted.

I’ve gotten 2 cards so far. 1 for the class I don’t even have unlocked and the other one is card that I’m never going to use, so “Yes, a trade-in option of 2-for-1 AND specific merc would be nice.” would be really nice since this is only for limited time and those cards are hard to get.

This is pretty much how I’ve felt after getting cards I will never use (and are extremely hard to get:)

I have two Rhino CW cards and I dislike Rhino. Both cards are terrible as well, which doesn’t help.

If trading in just equals to another random loadout then 2-1 is steep. It’s not like these loadouts continue forever like the cobalt ones, you might just end up losing many limited edition cards for one merc. I find it kind of lame they had multiple loadouts in the first place, I kinda expected them to be like the beta cards with the one set loadout.

People pay a lot of money for CW Elite cases. It’s already hard enough getting a CW loadout. A 2-1 trade in price would be adding insult to injury.

I think it would be neat if people were given the option to trade up their cobalts for an event loadout. That way everyone has a legit chance of obtaining an event card, and allows people to get rid of some of their cobalts that are pooling their inventories.

If every CW card was the best one for [Insert merc], they’d lose all their value.

Since they are limited edition I would think it is a bad idea to lose cards for trading in. I think in this particular case you should be able to trade in one card for another at a 25k credits cost. This way you can eventually end up with the cards you want, while maintaining the amount of event loadouts you get constant, as there is no way to get more once the event is over.

I would say they arent supposed to be DAT rare, not right now. a limited edition burger isnt a 1 in 100 happy meal surprise, its limited in time not quantity.

Yes it is considering that if you want one particular card, assuming you get no doubles and it is the last one to get out (as there is no current way to trade-in), then you’ll have to pay 17935=5355 euros. More if you get doubles, less if you get CW cards in the extra elite cases you get.

So SD’s only way of making money is for us to buy almost half a car’s value for a specific card that is supposed to be a timed event, event in which everyone is participating, supposedly. Yet I’m starting to believe it’s only for highly paying VIP’s.

It would be much more reasonable to be selling CW guaranteed cases for 1 euro each, then everyone would go for at least a couple of them and for those wanting them all, they could still pour in 600 euros or more.

It’s not an event if it’s not for the entire community of players and that’s my grief about it.

It is kind of unfair IMO that to get a CW card you or have to be extremely lucky or have 35$.
These cards are only available for a limited time and not for forever and it makes it so that if you are broke with no luck YOU ARE FUCKED (like me). And even if you have luck and money then you still have a high chance to get a shit card for a merc you never use so that is money and luck wasted.
