Tracemap not generating properly.

(Sho7) #1

Hey guys,

FYI this is not another noob question about setting up mapcoords or anything. Im trying to get rain into a map, now, when I generate a tracemap, I get no rain, reloaded the map, no rain. I’ve made a small cube map with a sky just for experimenting, 4 walls, floor and a top brush with a sky shader. Anyways, when i generate the tracemap, the damn rain doesn’t work, however yesterday, when experimenting, ET generated a Black tracemap (RGB channels black) and white alpha, and I got rain, now, when I drop that alpha map in, guess what it rains, when I generate a new one with ET, it stops. Now sure, use the black tracemap, well, you can’t you will get rain going everywhere (houses, water, etc.). Can someone help me with this, I have tried almost everything and have no clue what is going on.

Just found the problem, Ive replaced the sky to the one in radar, and its working and generating proper tracemaps, now to figure out how to get that working with my sky.

have a look at the shader for the radar sky, and compart it to yours… there should be something in there that stops it being inculded in the tracemap

Actually, the way I did it was generated the tracemap with the radar sky, and then put my sky back in and used the tracemap generated with radar sky, works no problems. Thanks.

your sky is probably solid

To take this comment to a higher level: it is possible that air strikes won’t work with your current sky as it’s solid.
Make sure that you use a shader which has a “marked as skyshader” statenent in it. (Can’t recall the exact statement ATM.)
