tracemap doesn't show buildings

(Teuthis) #1

I have a weird problem with generating my tracemap. After generating the tracemap, the map shows only very rough landscape structures and no buildings show up. It looks as if the tracemap is just too bright to distinguish any architecture. I first thought this must be caused by my lightmap settings of the worldbrush but even when I completely delete the worldbrush settings except for the map coordinates the tracemap shows up like in the attached picture. With this it’s impossible to make a nice tracemap. Strangely I never experienced any problems like this in previous project. I hope someone has an idea. The map is in fact very detailed so there should appear a lot of buildings etc.

whats the compile? meta or all with vis and light?? just wonder

(Teuthis) #3

All, with VIS and light.

Need to Play around with this, just out of curiousity, you mind if I send you my Map file with script so that you can compile and See whether the Tracemap Looks the Same when you generated it? Very Strange, Never Seen before…

just tested a couple of things: the compiling method does not Change the tracemap. I went back to old Projects and for example made a new tracemap for the old map teuthonia. There it worked perfect so my Problem is map specific and affects only the new map. Thinking about the differences i then came to the skybox which is different and changed this. But also the skybox doesn’t affect the tracemap.

I have no clue why the tracemap Shows up like this but this severely affects my Intention to finish this Baby in the next days :frowning:

sure you can send it, but you must have changed something in your ET dir for this to happen…
you have new shaders lately? they seem to be able to affect a lot?

(Mateos) #5

The trace map process just scans the map from above and saves the height of the map, to check where the arty/mortar and rain/snow can go while playing

If the map ceiling is really high, it might explain why the tracemap doesn’t have that much depth

(Teuthis) #6

Mateos you are absolutely right. Problem is that I Need These hight of the map because of the multiple airplains I have in the map. I could cry but now I Need to make a Special low height map only to generate the tracemap and then use this tracemap for the real map. what a pain…

(Teuthis) #7

I fixed it now. saved the map under a new name, cut of the head, compiled and generated the tracemap. looks good now. now I need to go back to my original map since I need the height because of the planes in the map.

thanks a lot. lesson learned
