Total Sound Loss

I’m not sure what happened to my game, but I was playing it over the weekend just fine, and then starting Monday I lost all in-game sound. It’s not my sound card, I can hear and talk in TeamSpeak and other games normally, it’s just Dirty Bomb that goes totally quiet on me. I hoped that the new patch would solve the issue, but no luck. I tried reinstalling the game and I’m still stuck.

Are there specific sound-related cvars to change sound drivers (like s_[x]device in Quake Wars)? Or has anyone else encountered this issue or know of a simple solution?

Much appreciated.

Had sound loss once today as well. Don’t know if it’s the same issue. Haven’t had any issues besides this one incident (neither before nor after the patch)

Have you checked that the volume is high enough in game. No, I’m not saying you’re stupid, it’s just that the game does that to me sometimes.

Hehe, yes I did check. It was the same as always. I tried to set it to 0 and back to my normal volume and didn’t help. Restarting the game did.

My in-game volume is set to the max, and I’ve tried fiddling around with that as well. Restarting the game does me no good either…is there anything I could check in Windows to make sure it’s working properly? I’m not sure what could have happened, it literally went from working fine one day to totally mute the next. :frowning:

Speaking for win8, you can click on the speaker icon and then on mixer, and it should list your software there. Where you can also adjust its volume.
Doubt this info helps though …

You could also check the logs from the game itself, and check if it says something.

Hmm…still no fix to my issue. I’ve tried poking around with my sound card settings (Asus Xonar DX, 7.1 Channels, PCI Express x1) to no avail. Does anyone have any experience with the Asus Xonar DX software to know if there’s a game - specific setting I need to mess with? Like I said, I didn’t change any sound card settings in the first place for this to have happened, it literally just went from working one day to broken the next…
