Anyone tested ET with the GeForce FX 5900 Ultra?

(colic) #22

Just wanted to say in the next 12 month I would expect most people will have to upgrade alot fot their systems.

Early benchmark tests for DOOM3 conclude that a Radeon 9700 pro is the minimum card if you want to play at a decent resolution 1280x768 with good graphics. The new nvidia cards got some impressive results at high resolutions mind!

In the past 18 months though their has not been any real progession with the engine of games. But I see that to change once Doom3 comes out.

Other game companys are going to be looking at better game engines and thus inturn will make people to upgrade. All for the sake of eye candy

You cannot simply upgrade your Graphics card either as a Radeon 9700 pro on a 1gig proccy will simply bottlekneck it to hell!

For a look at the benchmark results take a look over here

EARLY benchmark tests? Er yeah, those are BAD. You should NOT make assumptions based off a leaked alpha. That build has so many performance problems and memory leaks it’s not even funny. The alpha is far from the final game.

Nah, I think he’s on about the recent official benchmarks that sites like Tom’s Hardware published.
These were done on a build provided exclusively for framerate benchmarking by id, not the Alpha.

Although its a Doom 3 Alpha we can still tell the GeForce is the best card.
