To those of you suffering FPS problems

Do you use the native resolution for your screen?

I’ve always used low resolutions with 4:3 scaling, it’s just an old habit from Quake for many years. A friend told me last night they fixed their FPS problems by changing to their native resolution, so I tried it, and voila - I’ve gained 100fps out of nowhere.

Literally 100fps. Going from 1280 x 960 @ 4:3 to my native 1920 x 1080 @ 16:9, I’ve gone from 90fps to 190fps on all maps more or less.

So it’s making me wonder if the others suffering FPS problems are not running their native resolution. I thought at first maybe it was just the 4:3 scaling because I know that can add lag, but even if I run a lower 16:9 resolution I go back to 90-100 frames again.

Seems like just any resolution below 1920 x 1080 gives me insane lag.

lol wtf…

I know.

I’ve heard of 4:3 causing issues before, but generally speaking I’ve never ran into the issue where lower resolutions cause lower FPS. Lowering the resolution is usually my go to thing to gain some FPS.

I was told it could be that Dirty Bomb is poorly optimized, but I don’t know if that is true or even if it is true whether or not that is the case here.

but…i thought the smaller resolution should result in a smaller render frame meaning faster rendering speed with a lower quality image…? now that i think about it, the process of blowing up the small frame to fit the larger resolution might be eating some CPU power, which wouldnt be a huge problem most of the time but i heard DB is a more CPU-intensive game, so…
also, the UI elements are enlarged, too, and some effects on them like translucency and smooth fading might be eating up rendering power, too.
sh*it, now that i think about it kinda makes sense, though i doubt the it’ll work with every rig. better to just use one of those low-power configs imo

lol ill check, but dont think it will save me

running a 32 inch flat screen on medium quality and getting almost 150 fps on an R7 250 AMD radeon … so yaaaa and i run 16:9 last i checked since im not using a pc monitor

In my case I have 2 pcs, one a gaming one with gtx 970 and a laptop with a gt 365m. The laptop is running titanfall in the low resolution and most audio features turned off (I gained 60 fps from turning down the audio, the game has almost 20GB of audio files if I am not wrong) with 100 FPS.
In Dirty Bomb my laptop gets around 40 FPS when I dont use a config and with a config I get around 120 FPS, the game looks THE SAME with a config and without a config (yes, I know).

So I would say the game isnt optimized in my opinion. I normaly play with my gaming pc but when I play with the laptop, it is like another world.

I hope you understood what I said
