I have a map in which took the form of 2fort, or so Im told.
I dont have the game or know what the map even looks like.
I heard its very popular as my clan has a tfc server, but I only play wolf.
Anyway, if I use the title wolf_2fort, is this in copyright violation?
Title Copyright
“wolf_2fort” would not be a copyright violation. I wouldn’t worry about copyright issues, people shouldn’t be copyrighting gameplay ideas and I doubt anyone has.
If there is already a map with that file name don’t use it. Why not make your file name unique, include your initials or ??? Why take the chance that your filename might overwrite someone elses!
My initials…hmmmmm
my name is Andrew Scott Stevens.
lol
j/k
Well I really dont know what to call it.
Maybe I’ll hold a contest, winner can use his intials in the title…
so long as its not…
Steve Harold Isotope Tanner or something like that.
as far as i know, there isn’t a wolf_2fort. There will be a wt_forts though
as far as i know, what you should do is try to get a hold of the original maker of 2forts (i forgot his name but i’m sure someone here knows, if not, i’ll dig it up) and ask if its ok to make a map inspired by his. actually, you said you’ve never seen forts. hmmmmm… maybe you should ask if its ok to make a map that ended up like his?
THe only time i would worry about a map name is if there is a map with the same name out for the same game. I would never make a map called mp_beach whereas mp_forts i think is untaken. Or, go for the gusto and use ass_forts
I doubt Valve ever asked permission of the original Quake1 2forts author if they could do a similar level design!
I never knew it went back that far.
Maybe I should buy it and see.
Im going for it anyway.
Im having problems with my map saving it and compiling under different filenames.
I just dont want to be too pretentious and ruin the name 2fort. lol
Sounds silly but I thats me.
