Tip: Shorten Gun Reload Time

(natas) #1

Hi I posted this in General Chat but I’m thinking it’s more appropriate here.

I’ve search the forum and didn’t find any result on this. This is a tip on how to shorten the reload time of your guns. Veterans players should already know this so this tip is for new players like me. Also apologize if this had been post before.

The reloading animation for most of the guns and expect shot guns consists of two parts:

  1. Insert magazine
  2. Cocking the rifles
Normally guns can only fire after the full animation is completed. However, the gun is consider loaded when the magazine is insert. You should be able to check when your gun is loaded by looking at your bottom right ammo count. Once you see the number change to a full mag, it’s already loaded and ready to fire. All you need to do is cancel the cocking animation.

The best canceling method I found so far is by enable the option to cancel reload with sprint in the menu and tap the sprint button. By doing this you’ll have effectively cut the reloading time. The down side of this is if you cancel too early it will leave you with a empty gun. Most of the guns except shotguns can use this trick. Pistols also can also do the same but they have such a short reload time to begin with that often it’s not worth the risk of cancel the whole reload itself to save 0.5 sec worth of animation.

Here is an example:

or get the augment

Or do both and be even faster xD

I’ve found that the Blishlok doesn’t seem to work with sprint cancelling. If you try to sprint while its cocking animation, all it does is just restart the reload. Maybe I’m timing it wrong…

Blishlok don’t benefit much from this trick. It’s only loaded near the end of the reloading animation. While its’ reload still can be cancel, I’ll advise just wait till it’s finish. The best way to know when to cancel is not looking at the animation but to look at the ammo count at the bottom right of the screen instead. Once the number is change to full ammo then you can safely press cancel.
