thunders grenade is too bright

(enigmaplatypus) #1

I want to say that im not opposed to thunder being in the game but here are my issues:

thunders grenade is WAY to bright!!! his grenade literally, physically hurt my eyes, its horrible i have to sit for a few minutes because all i can see is weird colored lights and spots* (after the flash goes away). not only do they blind the opposing team but they also blind the team that thunder is on, if friendly fire is on thunders team would kill each other. seriously, this is a nightmare :frowning: i get that it is supposed to be bright and that the enemies can’t see, but can you turn it down (the brightness), or maybe add a bit (alot) more grey to it, cause blinding white is a bad move. i also worry about the medical repercussions of this, being blinded by bright lights constantly is not good for your eyes and brain.

*i only see that (colored lights/spots) when the flash grenades are rapid or constant. like at least one ever minute or so.

That might be something to consult an optometrist about. I don’t want to raise any alarms but seeing wierd coloured light spots when exposed to something as soft as white light on a screen might be a sign of “corneal abraision” or many other inflictions that cause photophobia (extreme sensitivity to light).

Perhaps someone can help you with turning down the flash through the config or settings.

i actually have vertigo, so thats why i get so sick XD also i should have clarified that i see the spots and colored light only when the flash grenades are rapid and constant; so like every minute or so (ill edit that in). but i would like to say that im not the only one, i talked to several people who think its way too bright and hurts their eyes as well. as for turning down the settings, how could you turn just the flash grenades brightness down?

Sorry buddy. Can’t help you with turning the flash brightness down, I don’t know anything about configs.

XD i don’t either. thanks though for trying to help

Same here! I’m light sensitive myself with a history of epileptic seizures. I’ve had to stop playing for my own health because of the flashes (headache and vomiting), and I hope there’ll be future options to make it bearable. Thunder being on free rotation would be a nightmare.

(enigmaplatypus) #7

:frowning: yeah this is bad. either they need to make his grenade less bright or a darker color, OR they need to have an option to turn the brightness down in settings. i feel like the developers didn’t really think of the consequences when they made him like this :frowning: i feel like he is a heath risk to everyone.

p.s. sorry your having that :frowning: i can relate to what you were dealing with. I hope you are feeling better

By chance when you play the game, do you do it in a well lit room?

(bizarreRectangle) #9

Yeah, being in a well lit room might help with the light. Because science.

(enigmaplatypus) #10

yes/no yes i have all the lights on, no because my apartment is a cave.

(darlingClaymore) #11

If you have vertigo, and are sensitive to light, why are you playing a fast paced shooter XD.

(Shinywindow) #12

The game handles lights and effects consistently to not be a problem but with Thunder it’s like

then

Splash Damage pls

(enigmaplatypus) #13

XD because im not going to let vertigo ruin/dictate my life. also db doesn’t really trigger my vertigo that badly (at least until thunder came). i like how shinywindow described this, (really sums up what its like for me as well).

I’ve read that thunder’s concussion grenade is so bright you basically can’t see anything around you in the game, and you are stunned a bit, but how come I can still move normally, and I can still see the general shapes of the game world? Is it my screen? I don’t get it.

Thunder’s concussion grenade seems to have a different effect on some people, because for me, I can still navigate around the map even if I got concussion grenaded. Does the effect of the concussion grenade lessen the further away you are from it?

For me, Thunder’s concussion grenade is similar to how you turn up the contrast of your monitor, but not all the way up. It’s up enough that it is white, but low enough that you can make out some shapes in the game world.

Another thing to add, I don’t like staring at bright screens for so long, so I set the brightness of my laptop screen to the minimum. Even my phone is at it’s lowest brightness.

Ok, I think I figured it out. At the time I was playing against some thunders, I probably wasn’t looking directly at the concussion grenade, which is why I could still make out some shapes in the game world. I was watching a youtube video of someone using thunder, and when he concussion grenaded himself, even at my screen brightness at it’s lowest setting, I still get that camera flash feeling.
