Thunder got nerfed on the last update?

(Dux) #1

After the last update I noticed that many of the “flashed” players are able to counter my conc nades and shoot me inmediatly without any problem. So, I did some testing and realized that now is really hard to fully flash someone. I haven’t seen any patch notes in rewards to concusion nades changes. Did I miss something? Or is this a shadow nerf? Could anyone clarify this?

Pretty sure there was no patch at all, only crafting week related stuff.
But I don’t know, might be a glitch

the ‘stunned’ effect has changed as far as i know. usually it was just blurry, now its all blurry and white.

this allows players to actually have a chance to counter instead of “oh shit, hope respawn cd is not too long”

It was always hard to fully flash someone who’s skilled enough to turn back immediately.

Unless you throw the conc while enemy is fighting your team mate, which is the most effective way of using the conc.

(@Herr_Hanz ) Slow and screen wobbling effect wasn’t changed at all,

BUT Flash effect is somehow changed as same mechanism that Slowing has.

It is quite hard to explain with words, so listen carfully.

Before : Slow/Flash always started at MAX effect ex.) Very sudden, but 99% of slow, or Full White scree.

But lasts up to duration time.

ex.) Starts with 99% Slow, but turns right back to normal speed within 2.5sec. Flash is much shorter, but full white scree bothered enemies the most.

After Lastest Patch : Flash’s whitening effect now changes due to range. you are only fully blinded if you look right at the explosion.

Unlike before, if you look conc’s explosion from far away, the flash effect weakens up to distance.

Overall, I think this is great change to conc that bothered lots of people with sudden full white screen.

BUT

If SD doesn’t change conc’s CD to at least 20sec and ignore the machine guns,

This is the worst scenario EVER.

I just hope they never satisfy with this. I am so worried.

Thunder is a pretty balanced merc…UH, IN MY OPINION, you actually have to but a good distance between you in that player, and not stand in front of there face where they can easy kill you.

@THUNDA I personally think the conc is now fine, since it is now ridiculously easy to fight back. The only change I think is needed is to increase the CD to that of fraggers nade, so it isn’t as spammy. There is now a way to counter it so it does not need more changes.

I experienced the new flash a couple of times yesterday. Honestly, it doesn’t feel bad and I definitely would like it if it stayed like that. It’s easier on the eyes for those who used to complain against the white screen, and it’s way less frustrating to experience.

The altered white screen doesn’t feel that inefficient IMO : it oftenly threw off my aim, but prevented me from ending into wall during those frustrating times where “blindness hit detection” played me some tricks. It feels really better in those cases where you got blinded by a stray.

(Herr_Hanz) #9

@RazielWarmonic why was this not in the patchnotes?

(Eox) #10

It’s likely a bug.

A read somewhere on the reddit that this was gonna be a change to the flash in the future to combat people complaining about how it hurt their eyes. I can’t remember where I saw it, but this was actually a dev version of the flash, and that it managed to sneak through with the latest patch.

It was an old complaint about how some people don’t like the white screen as it disorient them in real life, suggesting to make it gray, or black, or a sort of blurred “my eyes are squinted” overlay

The’s nothing the original concussion grenades used to decrease mouse sensitivity based on how close one was to the center of the blast radius even before all the changes and add-on on the post steam reintroduction of Thunder.

People complained about that and said it was unfair that for 3 seconds they’re left vulnerable with severity based on how close they are to the center of the blast radius that is larger than Fragger’s grenade, rather than outright killed and gibbed.
