Throwing knifes

In my opinion if you have throwing knifes you should also have the option to use melee as well because it in near impossible to hit anything with throwing knifes in this game. They are near usless in cqb so if you are out of ammo you are screwed.

Only time i EVER use them is to gib. But id still rather have my cricket bat.

Aiming for downed targets is seriously not that hard. However more rewarding throws would be nice. I already said that in another thread.

Currently, throwing knives deals 50 damage, and are not affected by headhots. It would be really nice to make allow them to headshot, and maybe with a stronger headshot multiplier. Also having the possibility to use them the classic way is nice : left clic for a knife swing, right clic for a throw.

Yes, please. Otherwise I will NEVER use a loadout with at throwing knife.

Good point @Eox

Another thing that should happen to the throwing knives is to make them unaffected by the game physics, the way grenades and throwables are affected. It makes for a godawful aiming mechanic if you have to consider your character’s movement. The only time I ever hit anything is when I don’t move, or move in a straight line.

They also need a buff to their sound, and be a little bigger in the in-game world? or some ‘swooshing’ effect like this? go to 3:00

I wouldn’t remove the physic part too quickly. It makes the skill ceilling higher, and may allow some cool tactics, like hitting an enemy behind cover.

I have nothing against tweaking their sound effect.

the delay before the throw needs to go.
Mercs should hold the knife in the pre-throw position. and throw it right after the ‘click’ with minimal delay.

I mean i get the delay for weapons like Rocket launcher in ETQW, but not a knife!!

there is no skill ceiling; it just makes for a random weapon. There is plenty of ceiling already with such a slow projectile.

I only use them for downed foes at range. Bullets are considerably easier to aim when everyone is running. I’d like to see that classic slash/throw setup.

It’s not technically impossible, just extremely hard. You have to aim where your target will be, and not where your target is. Just imagine something, knife are now able to headshot, and you mastered them, and you manage to put some kills with. It would be so awesome to see.

Players have still the time to get better and better, so I don’t think that it would be impossible for someone to be deadly with throwing knives. It’ll take a lot of work for sure though.

Dude i know how to prediction aim, i played lots of vangaurd in nosgoth with throwing axes and same for cod throwing knifes. I know how to calculate and predict with slow throw speed and lobbing. What I am saying is the registration is completlty off like I have seen my knifes and friendslys go right through the target and it just doesnt register. I think the actual knife is buddged, or the hitbox on them is too small.
