Threads 4 Constantly

(Q.) #1

Hi.
While using q3map2.x86, I noticed odd text in its log.
It says “Threads 4” on top of it.
In case of q3map2.exe, it is always 1.
Even if I set -threads 1 in bsp, vis or light phase, it won’t change. :disgust:
So here is a question.
How can I change it from 4 to 1.
Thanks in advance.
BTW if this is suppoesed to be a bug, please don’t forget to list up my name in the next version of readme.
Just a greed though. :stuck_out_tongue:

Q3Map2 automatically detects the number of CPUs and sets threads accordingly on Win32. This is not a bug.

(Q.) #3

I’m asking about the case of my unix only 1 processor equipped with, you know? right?

(nUllSkillZ) #4

Threads and processors are not the same thing.
Threads are started by the executing program.

(Q.) #5

On my win2k q3map2.exe always starts with threads 1.
So here is a question.
What the hell is the difference between the two case?
Is there any advantage or disadvantage?
