I feel like throwing knifes are a direct nerf to whatever melee weapon they replace. They should have more of an impact than they currently do they should be a direct buff, after all they are a loadout mod. The damage on them is abysmal you have to land BOTH of them to barely kill an Aura and they aren’t exactly easy to hit with. You only get 2 tries before you have to wait for them to recharge and the travel speed is fairly slow in my opinion. Personally I think they need to be a skill shot type of weapon where you can one shot at least Aura and Proxy. Normal knifes are able to do so with backstabs and if the throwing knife cant at least be as effective as a normal knife what is the point.
Thoughts on Throwing Knives
They seem to be more useful for finishing downed enemies without wasting ammo from range. I think they are fine the way they are. Just shoot the enemy. Your loadout card comes with 2 guns
The problem with using them as finisher is that they don’t work immediately on a downed enemy, instead u have to wait 1-2 seconds after u killed them. In that time u could usually just walk to them and finish them or if they’re next to a medic they’ll get rezzed anyway.
Their purpose is definitely to give u a range finisher at the cost of ur knife, but they’re completely useless for their only purpose as it doesn’t work or takes to much time…
Instagib for body/headshot
70dmg for legs/arms ?
PRO SKILL
So far from what I tried, the knife seems to deal a constant and consistant 50 damage, whatever the way you throw it, and even on headshots. I’d suggest to allow the throwing knife to score headshots. And maybe to raise that headshot multiplicator since the throwing knife is not hitscan, so way harder to score headshots with.
Not inclined to agree.
Personally I feel like it needs to be evaluated as lateral change (sidegrade) from standard melee weapons.
You can’t attempt to compare the functionality of the Throwing Knives to standard melee weapons, because they’re not designed/intended/implemented to fulfill the exact same role.
Yes, sometimes you will find yourself thinking “damn I really wish I’d just had a melee weapon there”. If that becomes to prevalent for your taste, use a different loadout.
Just keep playin’ around and think about the optimal usage for having two extra midrange projectiles in your back pocket.
I actually really like this idea! It would keep the throwing knives the same but still give them the potential to actually be useful in combat.
More information I discovered about the throwing knives :
- The projectile seems to follow an arc. It’s maybe possible to hit someone behind cover with it, but it would take a lot of practice for sure.
- You can throw up to two in a raw, then it needs to “reload” a bit. That cooldown is not very long.
- Since the most recent update, I feel like I only need one knife to kill an already downed target. Maybe I was just lucky… But that’s definitely a nice thing to be able to finish a guy without wasting ammo. I hope I’ll get that Augment on Sawbonez one day…
Being able to headshot with still feel like a needed feature though. I am not sure if they already added that with the last patch though, since I am not even sure that the “finish in one knife” thing belongs to the most recent update.

I disagree. Throwing knives should absolutely be better than melee weapons. This is because in addition to your melee slot, throwing knives takes up a perk slot. The fact that throwing knives are a sidegrade as is, and possibly even a downgrade, means that this perk slot is wasted.[/left]

This is what I was trying to say in my first post. If they take up a perk slot they should be an actual PERK. Something that players will be actually excited to see when they open up a new case. Right now I have 2 gold loadout cards with throwing knives and i feel like my bronze cards are more usefull simply because they have 3 perks that actually make a difference.
Or the throwing knife perk could just be a perk that lets you throw your melee weapon with a button rather than replacing your melee entirely. It’s a perk, perks aren’t supposed to be trade offs.
