Thoughts on Brink

First off let me say that this is my personal opinion. I am not here to troll or flame or start $h*t
in any way I just want honest thoughts on Brink.

With that said I do like the game. Most game critics from what I have seen are beating the hell out of it except for maybe GT which gave it a 7.9.
There are some technical issues and bugs that need to be worked out. With that aside let me get to the some of my issues with the game and things I like.

The SMART system works most of the time with the occasional hang up(Ive been playing the game for 3 1/2 hrs so maybe there are more issues with it but I haven’t had to really use it). The maps I played for pretty small and vaulting and running about parkour style just didn’t need to be done. I thought it did feel smooth though and did appreciate it when I did need to escape.

When you are the attacking side of a VIP/Escort mission you have to guard the downed target for the entire 10min and yeah that is ok, but it gets old. And pretty much the only thing you can do if you want to win.

Secondary objectives felt pointless. With so little time to really do stuff, taking command posts or whatever didn’t feel like it really changed anything. Also, as an engineer the only skill I felt was worth anything was the turret. The wheel works great and spells out what you need to go and where to do it, but with so much going on in such close quarter fighting I felt reluctant to bring it up to even check objectives.

I did like the way the guns handled for the most part, a couple wpns felt clunky.

IMO SD needs to patch the AI. Playing SP is a waist of time. Even if you have a couple friends with you, the AI stacks on your objective and are hard as hell to dig out. In fact that can be the only sure strat is to dig in on an objective and you’ll never lose it. So, some balancing or whatever needs to happen.

The challenges are a nice touch, but can be frustrating. I completed all of them in roughly an hour and unlocked all of the guns and attachments. The good thing is you only have to do it once and the guns and such are unlocked for every character you create. I pray there are DLC plans.

The maps are short… real short and back to the DLC thing, I don’t think this game will survive without it.

Grenade explosions are like firecrackers I hope they change that.

The customization is outstanding and the character graphics (on PC at least) are fantastic. The graphics do muddy up once in game though, but I read SD is releasing a patch?

Anyway, I wasn’t trying to give a review I just would like to see what other people think.
I do like the game, but am a little disappointed. I know it looks like I am complaining, but really I am not. I am just listing some issues that can be fixed. The game is still fun, I just want the replay of W:ET and ETQW. I really had/have high hopes for this game and I want this title to be a contender. I love the objective based gameplay, the classes and the custimization. If they patch some stuff and put out some content I think this game will really shine:D
