Any idea how to stop custom menus from taking over the normal one? I mean the ones that pretty much EVERY clan server tries to force on other peopel. They are extremely annoying, especially the ones which try to prevent you from leaving the game and joining some random servers instead. Im tired of having to remove the pk3 files all the time :
Those Cusom Menus -_-
Or nevermind I think I fixed it by making my own custom .pk3 with the normal menu files in it and added a proper name for the file so it overrides everything else in my game folder.

Avoiding those packs from a modding/coding point of view (in form of a mod which takes care) is one of the ways. Another way is what you just did.
How are those files named though ? And where are they located … Would be at least cool to know with what files i have to deal, when i might find a proper way of dealing with such files. Shouldn’t be too hard though, question is of course if it will be too hardcore again
They are some random files from each mods UI folder. For example with etpub youd have the etpub client pk3 with the mentioned UI folder in it, the most important one is main.menu I think and sometimes quit.menu. In my case its the etpubc-20100628.pk3
So, I made my own pk3 file with an UI folder inside containing all those .menu files which are necessary and renamed it as zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzoverridemenus.pk3 so the game would load it last. Seemed to work when I loaded etpub mod in game, no more crappy custom menu.
here maybe a easy way:
Make a new folder in Wolfenstein ET Directory and name it “noads”, “****custommenus” or a other name
Then copy mp_bin.pk3, pak0.pk3, pak1.pk3 and pak2.pk3 from etmain folder to your new directory.
Now start ET with ./et +set fs_game noads
Also you make a new mod and so load the pk3 other:
yourmod/pak2.pk3
yourmod/pak1.pk3
yourmod/pak0.pk3
yourmod/mb_bin.pk3
etmain/zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz_fu§king_Menus.pk3
etmain/pak2.pk3
etmain/pak1.pk3
etmain/pak0.pk3
etmain/mb_bin.pk3
NOT TESTED!!! Only a theory ^^
Or make a mod, that have the menu files included, also hardcoded.
That would probably work too but I dont know about it being “easier” than what I did lol.
Well,
If .pk3 uses only shader and ui folder, then its usually under name: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~blabla.pk3
If .pk3 uses more than shader and ui folder then its usually under: zz_isuck.pk3

Hows that answering anything?
lol…
et load the pk3´s so:
~.pk3
z.pk3
y.pk3
also is ~ before z and overwrite all files what in z is…
I hope you understand…

Yeah, but what is the name and where is the location ? Give me foldername of the orignal files and all files involved. I think everyone agrees that packs like this must be dissallowed to modify. I even heard some time some admin complaining about those packs. He made an own custom pack with such files and said something like “yeah what should i do everyone else is also doing this, so i have to type one ~ more in my pk3 name”. The result is then packs like this => ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~mysupercoolstayconnectedmenufile.pk3
A solution would be to just offer them on their clanpages (if they think it is so neccessary to make such packs) for download and start them with fs_game randommod, i do not wanna be forced to download such packs.

Ok thx, i think i ‘fixed’ this by just asking for a file size at server start, and when it is extended or somehow modified, the server will refuse to start. Will be included in my modbase soon. Although i think this will be a useless information for most of you, since it is no insta-fix, with no real results, you just would have to make sure to join the right mods then, which include this ‘fix’.
Anyway …

I know that but I never asked about it.
