This is not BRINK from quakecon!

I am eagerly awaiting release in the UK, but can’t help but think that Brink looks so different from last years footage but not for the better.

Container city Part 1 shows lot of gameplay, but I noticed at the same time It looks better than any new footage released. The visuals look like they have been dumbed down alot over the last finishing month’s.

If you can find the container city footage, I suggest you compare it to a newer more recent video of Brink.

It used to look a whole lot different than it does now…

The intro they show in the beginning shows sharp, crisp graphics. I remember playing the game for the first time and saying “Hm… interesting graphics.” And then the second time I booted it up, I let it run a little bit instead of skipping stuff (either that or I let it run in the main menu) and it showed a video in first person view and the graphics were so nice.

I’ve actually learned to deal with it. I came from Crysis 2 to this game… so you could only imagine my initial feelings about the graphics.

Hopefully everyone has noticed this. There seems to be this feeling like they got super rushed, and pushed it out the door. Like they promised it to us a full seven days early, and then realized their mistake. It did look so amazing, now it only looks kind of amazing…but I digress.

I’m more of a gameplay man than a graphics man, although graphics can be really nice to look at sometimes, I typically don’t have time (especially in Brink).

The extensive huds and indicators take a lot away from the graphics.

have you tried using some of that stuff?

seta com_machineSpec 3
seta r_multiSamples 16
seta r_useAntiAliasing 16
seta image_anisotropy 16

I’m also trying to achieve “real max gfx” but I’m unsure about every options, if someone could post a description of each and shed some light as to how to get the graphics the first PC footage had.

Here’s my current autoexec, I basically just turned everything to, on steady 50FPS w/e there’s on screen,

seta com_machineSpec 3
execMachineSpec
seta g_fov 70
seta r_fullscreen 1
seta com_showFPS 1
seta r_useMotionBlur 1
seta r_multiSamples 16
seta r_useAntiAliasing 16
seta image_anisotropy 16
seta image_filter GL_LINEAR_MIPMAP_LINEAR
seta r_shadows 1
seta r_useHBAO 1
seta r_softParticles 1
seta r_useHighQualityPostProcess 1
seta r_usePortals 1
seta r_useOptimizedShadows 1
seta s_useOcclusion 1
seta s_numberOfSpeakers 2
seta com_bootLogo 0
seta g_skipViewEffects 0

The Brink from the container city gameplay video is the Brink i wanted, what happended to the STORY!?!? What happened to the ingame scripted stuff? Remember the srcurity guys tslking wt the begining? Then the cutscene once they get to the dirty bomb/vaccine? It does not exist anymore!

The container map looks pretty much like the videos we’ve seen, but the aquarium and another weird sci-fi map do not seem to look as great as other maps.

Still, the game looks amazing on PC. On the 360… meh… the somethign was screed up but I can’t point out if it’s the resolution or post-process mixed with a lack of anti-aliasing.
