This is how I like to view Updates...

So was just reading something about RUST and the new game by FacePunch and came across this twitter account…

I really wish there could be some sort of thing from SD also… I know it takes a little more time and all that jazz but it would really help us better visualise the progress and keep the closed beta guys more excited (and I am not talking about just the guys on these forums).

would love to know peoples thoughts…

Oh the whole, I’m not opposed to something similar to this. I can see plenty of people in the studio facepalming at me saying that though :P.

There are many many more moving parts and people in play here, all of whom would have to come into alignment to make this work; and realistically, that would be very tough to make happen. Whenever I manage to find a moment, I do want to look into whether or not we can make something similar happen.

Now…it’s seriously time to get out of the office.
Enjoy your evenings everyone!

I just imagine it like you stick tablet or a laptop in the break room logged onto that twitter account and let people when having a drink or something to say what they have just done… Now I understand that now it likely goes though 101 review processes and gets filtered down to overlay simplistic “hints” of what is going on so you can control the flow of information. However, I need to ask. What would be so bad about allowing people to post what they have just done? Is it not valuable to get a view of what peoples snap opinions on a change are before you build too much on top of it so it becomes harder to change?

Honestly, it does not seem like a question of what is possible…
Just simply a question of control…

That’s pretty cool.

Certain notes, without any context, will just cause a lot of confusion and frustration for players. The question is how clear we are with communication and who is reading it. I’m sure you’d be able to cope with a straight up commit log, plenty of other people would lose their shizzle over it though

Besides, mine would probably look something like…

Anti changed XP for a kill from 100 to 80
Anti changed XP for a kill from 80 to 90
Anti changed XP for a kill from 90 to 85
Anti changed XP for a kill to 100

There we have it, commit log synced to Twitter, problem solved.

I have to be honest…
You are right…

Honestly, this feature is just something I want selfishly… The development interests me greatly and I am excited to see what is happening!

Saying that however…
The 4k followers vs the 30k on the official twitter shows that there is an interest with the more hardcore community base.
Especially once that NDA lifts that kinda twitter feed could generate videos and tweets around the web with speculation and excitement.
Kinda feel like its good passive promotion…

“Team help up time has been reduced to 2.5sec from 5sec /anti”
Would get people talking…
Once NDAs lifted it would likely get you 10 - 15 videos released…

(FireWorks) #13

ahm… every single line on the twitter feed? Thats just a spam fest…

However id strongly encourage tossing out patchnotes and all the other good info you give out on the forums to twitter. And if its only linking to the posts.

What the SD forums lack is a way to only check on dev posts. You guys give so much feedback and I cant hold up on reading the whole forums anymore. Since the forums software cant get it done to now, maybe a twitter bot would be easier for that?

(Protekt1) #14

Instead of twitter they should try testing procedure specification reports

Take your time with Lifting the NDA and take your time with the game…

We can only fill one laggy euro server right now… Thats 12 people… 12!!!

It doesnt appear the game is even close to the final stage or at least the game we are testing now… Take your time and get everything implemented into the game before taking off the NDA or releasing a ton of keys… Work on bring back the 1000 people that have keys now.

Update the game
Once the game is more into its open beta product then send out an Email to all current key holders and try to get a push for them to come back. Remind them of all the updates and also how and where to get the launcher…

Like I said before a USA player playing in a Euro server is darn near impossible right now so both regions will need to have a lot of players to keep this game going.
