This is annoying... help?

Okay… So I have created everything and put it in the folders it should be in and named it what it should be… its not working… No matter what I try, it doesn’t work… It is really starting to make me angry…

So, if I’m not mistaken, all you do is add the folder to an archive and then rename it to instead of .zip to .pk3, right?

So I thought maybe it was something I didn’t do, so I wanted to try something. I downloaded a sound mod. I put it in my ETMain folder (untouched) and I got in the game and it worked fine. So I decided to try something. I renamed it to .zip and extracted it to a new folder. I didn’t touch a THING inside the folder. I then added the folder to an archive again and then renamed it back to .pk3. Now it doesn’t work. WTF?!?!

I even downloaded a .pk3 creator and it didn’t work either.

Right now, I hate life. I feel like a complete noob. Help?

ok, lets do a checklist
1.) downloaded a pk3 (mod.pk3)
2.) renamed it (mod.pk3 -> mod.zip)
3.) extract it (mod.zip -> mod/ -folder)
4.) edit it
5.) added it to an archive (be careful, don’t add the folder “mod/” in the archive, only all files in it, so the directory-tree stays alive for ET)
6.) renamed it (mod.zip -> mod.pk3

so you told about a sound mod, so you should take care, that you sound files are working.
for testing, you don’t need to create a pk3, for testing/modding extract the mod right in your etmain-directory und edit it there. so et will also use the unzipped files

Something to check is that you don’t have “absolute paths” on - If you do have it on, in the file list in Winzip, the directory will say something like “C:\Program Files\WolfensteinET\etmain\mymod\sound”.
It should say something like “mymod\sound”.

If that’s not the problem, if you could create a small pk3 in the same way as your larger one, then post it here, we could help a bit more.

I only see No1_sonuk from PoP posting here anymore. PoP used to have a large active community here. What happened?
