i feel like he had less recognition then he deservs

(PD_Agent47) #2

Exactly … may be it is in beta still … i bet this will be a big hit when the game gets released … No Worries

(copperCucumber) #3

hoping so lol

The loadout cards gave the initial bad impressions, where people assumed
Higher Rarity = Better
Which is obviously not true.
Plus the update frequency is pretty low, who can blame them? They need more SD employees working on DB.

(frostyvampire) #5

It will be popular when it’s out of beta I’m 100% sure of it.
Right now there are just too many bugs and not enough maps.
On the full release we will have at least 2 more maps (Dockyard which looks like will be good and Gallery but who plays execution anyways) and at least 2 more mercs (Turtle and Javelin).
I assume a bunch of common bugs will be fixed by then (such as fake health station thing on ground, laggy main menu) and a lot of more stuff (like buying a specific amount of cases instead of doing it one by one).
Don’t worry, searching for ranked games won’t take 10 minutes by then

This is a reason, to the point where some people even call it p2w, even a famous youtuber.

Eh, not so sure Javelin will be released before the game is out of beta. Turtle, for certain though to even the number of mercs per role.

Not enough publicity and at the wrong people.
Great counter example: Overwatch. I don’t like the game, nor play it, but their publicity was great. Any big Youtuber/streamer got access. is SD/Nexon would go to big people and say them: “Here have an account with stuff, and a written explanation to the loadout system. We give you some money, and you present our game” It would generate a lot of players and most likely enough buyers to compensate for the money they spent on the streamer/Youtuber, if the paying system gets a rework beforehand.

(XavienX) #10

Tbh part of the reason is because of the history with Nexon and SD doing stupid stuff. In fact those who decided to not become dedicated in DB guessed it right that SD would do drastic gameplay changes that will turn the game eventually to trash. Ex: Jumpsnipe nerf; Phantom’s list of like 13 nerfs; melee nerfs; Thunder/Fragger nerf; lists of a shitload lists etc.

What @Xavien said. It’s a shame because when I first got into DB it was really… really fun. Finally a fast team based competitive game. But with time, SD stuck with their reputation and started making questionable changes that drew alot of players away. I, for one, didn’t really wanna stick with the game for various reasons including their really questionable RNG system but I did stick with it because I still loved the game and so did my girlfriend. What helped SD’s cause is that it was the only game like it out there too. I mean if there was another game similar to DB that was competing with them I’m fairly sure we’d have a much better game today. I’m playing Overwatch mostly nowadays so I don’t play Dirty Bomb anymore although I do follow the news about it in the hopes that they will eventually get their heads out of their you know what and come up with interesting features, bug fixes and balance changes that actually make sense.

Hopefully they can manage to do that in 2016… preferably.

Having a good reputation helps aswell. First of all you’re comparing Overwatch to Dirty Bomb. Blizzard and Splash Damage. Blizzard’s announcements have alot of weight. When Blizzard says “Hey, we’re coming out with a new game.”, everyone claps, everyone’s happy and hyped for it. Blizzard is an all around successful gaming company with successful franchises and they have plenty money to throw out for all those juicy commercials and what not because of successful games. Splash Damage, on the other hand, have nothing to back them up.

See anything that stands out in that list? No. Dirty Bomb had the potential to become a great game. Instead, because of the Free-to-play model DB has going for them, they’re too busy trying to find a way to make a profit out of it as opposed to releasing good content or just plain content pretty much. Since the release of Execution mode and the Dome map… what did they release that was considered good content? Pretty sure no body can answer that question. I mean content here, not already made and postponed mercenary releases with RNG system bullshit attached to it to make a profit. That’s just proving my previous point of their Free-to-play business model.

With all that being said, I’m not saying it doesn’t have potential anymore because it still does seeing that it is still the only game like it out there… But that won’t last forever.

seems strange to me that someone who didnt got past lv7 (not to mention 2) can do a rant on this game
and the fact that he think that it is possible for the game to not give him that cobalt when it “intentionaly skips” that card is retarded since this game is c++ based
i fucking hate him

(Jostabeere) #13

@Merciless I didn’t compare Overwatch and DB. I compared Blizzards publicity and DBs publicity.
And the fact that Blizzard just has to say: “We’re making X” and people will love it isn’t even true. Look at Diablo 3.

(KUST__LunarTM) #14

I love Dirty Bomb. I also love Combat Arms. I hope they stay until I die of old age.

It was fine until they added “… and it will have always-on and a real money auction house”.

They did that last summer when the game hit Open Beta. They are most likely going to do that again once the last couple huge features are completed and the game has a lot more going for it than last summer. It will be a proper release at that point and lose the beta tag. Youtuber, Twitch streamers etc. will be contacted to promote the game and this time Nexon/SD has some experience with how they could avoid some of the Angry Joe-type situations by giving them all proper info as to how things work.

The game isn’t small now considering it has limited advertising has been for it. But if they do a full release where there is something for everyone (good friend queuing system, solid base for competitive matches and community servers) it could grow exponentially. I doubt most of us would argue too hard that DB’s core mechanics are great. It’s just everything else surrounding them that has had issues. So if all that gets cleaned up (including performance stability across a large range of hardware) then things could blow up. Especially with community servers being able to help support organized 5v5 more and players can build their own communities.

God Dammit every time I want to say something smart in a post, someone else has already said it. I hate you all
