This game should take lessons from Team Fortress 2

  • In TF2, is the sniper one of fastest class ? No. In, fact, he’s one of the most sluggish merc of TF2 : Scout, Medic and Spy all have a higher default mouvement speed, soldier and demo can explosive jump to much higher speeds, and when ADS with any snipers, his mouvement speed is even lower than the heavy’s one when his minigun spins up.

Conclusion : Make Vaseline/Aimee/Sparks/Red Eye slower. Rhino should be more nimble and faster than a sniper

  • In TF2, do sticky bombs explode when you shoot them ? No, they disappear harmlessly in a white flash when hit by an hitscan weapon

Conclusion : Proxy mines should disappear harmlessly in a white flash when hit by an hitscan weapon. Whether the shooter is Proxy herself or not.

  • In TF2, is the Spy useless ? No

Conclusion : Turn Phamtom into a TF2 Spy.

Except that in TF2, you also have people who are clearly designed for certain roles and functions on a team. Whereas with Dirty Bomb everyone can fight, and do other things on the side.

The only thing I’d agree with is changing Phantom’s cloak, beyond that, nope.

As long as it’s not Rock-Paper-Scissors balance.
I want all mercs to be versatile. Don’t wanna play combat weak medic.

This, above all else

The game’s ttk is too fast for Medic to not be decent or good at fighting people.

it’s strange, I re-read my post over and over and I fail to see where I mentioned anything about medics’s fighting skills.

I disagree with this.

Proxy is ahem pretty bad in a competitive scene, where the following is assumed…
a) Both sides have a Vassili with spotting grenades.
b) Both sides are perfectly aware of enemies thanks to Vassili.
c) Everyone can deal with Proxy the same way as a katana Phantom.
She needs to be stronger. Nerfing her abilities like that (without subsequent buffs, mind you) would be like making Rhino a 120 HP character.

The TTK is extremely fast in this game compared to TF2. Think of everything in this game as if you just given Scout’s pistol the ability to deal x2 damage headshots and nearly infinite range. It’s not like you can add elements of TF2 and put them in here.

While snipers are nonetheless powerful I don’t think that they’re so powerful they need nerfs. While their weapons are powerful they often have very marginal utility, as even Assaults do better than them in that area. The only exception to this rule is Vassili, and most players are asking for his health and/or speed to be nerfed appropriately.

In my opinion, Redeye is a combat class at the same tier as Arty and Fragger. But all he does is just that: combat. His spotting ability isn’t as good as Vassili’s. Also, he already has Skyhammer’s health and movement speed, when Skyhammer can call in an air strike that can clear areas that he isn’t even looking at.

Aimee is just… an annoyance. I do like the idea of a glass cannon (and slow moving) sniper, but to do that she needs a complete redesign (as movement speed and hitbox size correlate) and different, but more powerful, abilities. For example, if she was able to dish out 2.5x headshot damage with her secondaries, she could be a class that combos a sniper rifle and a more powerful assault rifle. That would certainly justify the glass cannon nature of her character, and justify less movement speed.

TF2 Spy has marginal at best uses in a competitive scene when there’s no Engineers to counter. Engineers in this game have something called objective specialist that justifies their gadgets being weaker than TF2’s, therefore TF2 Spy in this game would be downright useless.

Medics’ fighting skills was MY example. Regarding “rock-paper-scissors” balance.
I played enough TF2 (and Paladins for that matter) to see how that kind of balance works.

The only game DB should take lessons from is…

ET: WOLFENSTEIN

No, seriously.
This is probably the only class based online shooter, with versatile classes, that I know of.

If all snipers were slower they’d be relying solely on their weapons and abilities to differentiate them, and what about Redeye with the Dreiss? Suddenly he’s not really a sniper anymore. Either way, I don’t think it really fits. Yes, you can rocketjump etc. in TF2 but I think DB prioritizes movement more in general, which is still big deal, even for snipers. You could kill snipers’ ADS speed and I wouldn’t mind, but then again I don’t snipe.

The Proxy counter-argument is that she doesn’t have any offensive ability without the nuclear pancake-frisbee, which I agree with tbh.

I really start to think some of you are completely autistic. Did you even realize their is something else beyond competitive scene ?[/quote]

Considering this game was made for that, specifically for that, no not really. You really can not play Dirty Bomb and not take it seriously, unless you’re playing against toddlers or just really bad players who never played a shooter before.

So either you take DB “seriously” (lol) or you’re automatically playing against bad players

Missplaced arrogance intensifies

You’re either playing with people who take it seriously, or don’t, and when they don’t you lose, or they lose. Plain and simple.
