This game fails at what should be.

Sorry about the rant, but this is fucking true, and im finally pissed off.

When my friends told me about this game, i was expecting a teamplay focused and fast gameplay. And it does, BUT FAILS at that. Because nobody seems to want to learn how to play the fucking game.

I know the game is still on beta, that still needs time to be worked on, but, if you guys really want this game to rise up between the thousands of FPS around. You need to start working on a few things to make this game more enjoyable.

Im a guy who personally hates competivity, but, at the same time i love when i can rely on my teammates to focus on the objective wihout any problem. But thats the problem, the teammates. None seems to even know what the objective is, or even what exactly are they playing.

We need to encourage players to focus on team play, instead of letting them go, and play like its damn TF2, kill everything, and dont care about anything else. Because thats what its becoming right now at my eyes.

It would be just perfect if the game CONSTANTLY reminded us what our objective is, and telling us in the middle of the game: “HEY, DO YOUR GODAMN JOB! PLANT C4/REPAIR THE EV!!!” Even if it is that way, because im sure people would pay attention.

Also, we could get a warning about the team composition, because, yesterday, i had a match where i was the only one with a specialist merc, and trying to repair the EV all the time, but we didnt had any medic at all. It was clearly an easy win for the other team, and so it did.

This is what the game fails to, to teach people to be teammates, not mindless lone wolfs who are just going to have a worthless death.

Teach players to team play, and focus on the objective, and the game is now perfectly as it should be.

Completely SD-s fault for not having Team Death Match servers. Just because your game is objective based game does not mean this type of players will stay away. They will TDM in objective mode instead.

(Drcipres) #3

The game shows on screen when you respawn from time to time DESTROY THE BLOCKER CARRIAGE, ESCORT THE EV, etc.
It is problem of the players.
Players who do the objectives gain a lot more xp than those who just go for kills.
1 way that I see to improve the teamplay, is force the tutorial, but a improved tutorial, showing what to do in every map, do drop ammo, to heal allies, etc,

I agree on the principle, though some people may react very badly with a forced tutorial. A better solution IMO would be to give a nice reward for completing the tutorial for the first time IMO, so everyone would to it because “hey, you can get free stuff”.

players don’t want to learn the mechanics and play how I want them to
must be games mechanic that fails

Get off those max-lvl-5 servers or play comp and you will have your teamplay.
I bet if the game was TDM-only you would complain about people not doing TDM-stuff aka "They not killing much people, I can’t win!.
P.S. I’ve won with teams without medics or engies. It’s not about the class in pub, but more about how people actually can play the class they play.

Im a rank 8, i just play pubs because based on my experience, competitive is even worse than pubs.

Also, about what you said about the classes, it would be nice if SD added a tutorial for each character.

(Hibbsan) #7

Never trust anyone to do the objectives. Play as engineer yourself and win. Works everytime.

You should wait for level 10 and try the level 10 min servers : people are usually decent and more prone to teamplay (at least in EU).

(Szakalot) #9

yup what eox said, especially on sw servers. if you can get balanced teams that is

Just change server man, it’s not the game fault. You can remind people all you want but if a dude want to TDM, he will TDM no matter how much you shout.

(SereneFlight) #11

It’s not really game’s fault that majority of the people are braindead retards…

However at the end of the match there could be stuff like the most health given: insert player etc. which could encourage medics to play like a medic etc. etc. etc.
Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, anyone? stares at SD

Also, the game could warn when people switch mercs. It would be nice to know when people switch from medic or engineer to another class without having to check the composition all the fucking time… especially would be nice to know if somebody changed when I’m waiting for respawn instead of realizing afterwards that our shitlord medics changed to recon mercs.

AhahaHAHAHA like teamwork gets any better after max lvl 5 servers and competitive with randoms is like playing on pubs.

P.S. I’ve won with teams without medics or engies. It’s not about the class in pub, but more about how people actually can play the class they play.

If both teams play well and other one doesn’t have medics, the story will be different.
However, if one team with medics are drooling idiots, you can stomp them without medics any day.

At least in the US they are also more prone to house the saltiest people in all of DB too.

(Dog) #13

I’d like to remark that this wouldn’t actually be that bad of an idea. Just a simple training room thing explaining the role of the class, and allow a quick demonstration of what their abilities do.

This could also be a good way to teach some of the more advanced techniques of a merc that you might not learn unless somebody told you, like Proxy shooting her mines to detonate them, or the direction of Skyhammer’s airstrike, or using ammo stations as rudimentary barriers in narrow passageways (e.g. the Stoker elevator deathtrap).

(p4v) #14

No matter how many instructions you put into a game, people will ignore that anyway. Apparently reading and listening are too hard. Sorry but if I see a newb playing a med class and ressing with his hands instead of defbs or revivr gun, I don’t blame DB. The info is there. It’s a player’s choice to not read it.

(ThiagoJaqueta) #15

So… You’re blaming SD because of bad players and you can’t get friends to play competitive with you?
Hmmmmm k.

(Adam) #16

Killing should only give 1xp

(CCP115) #17

-Competitive doesn’t work (very well, in Oceania at least)
-Level 10 servers are kind of rare in Oceania
-Tutorial is bad, can’t defend it really

That is about as far as SD can be blamed for idiots in DB. Everything else is the player being genuinely stupid.

The game yells at you constantly, telling you what to do and to do the objective. Honestly, if people are going to be dumb, that’s just the way it is.

True.

(3N1GM4) #19

Well, say what you will about teamplay in DB, but its still 1,000,000% better than in Battlefield lol. So, its got that going for it.

(blisteringOwlNest) #20

One way around this could be community owned servers. Imagine a place where a moderator or admin can help or kick idiots, and can keep a closer eye on their players, or simply have a higher barrier to entry, e.g. Lvl 25+.

Seriously, I just want community servers.
