yhello.

how do i start? hm. ill just try…

so, eh. i think splash damage and/or bethesda’s announcement for the free dlc now backfired at them. announcing it will only be free for the first 2 weeks of release did nothing positive to their already damaged reputation. it will further have no positive impact on the playerbase either.

it is officially announced that players with dlc can play with players without dlc, but only on the vanilla maps. easy put, the number of players playing the new maps will be even smaller than the playerbase currently is.

will this fact motivate people to buy the dlc? this depends i think. brink is not popular and has not the best reputation. will people spend 13 bucks for dlc for brink? i think not. they probably will for 5 though. i think. just hypothetical speculation though. but maybe you agree with me.

anyways. i think it would help the reputation to change the plan and give this first dlc out for free for ever. people will recognize this. maybe it will even bring new players in.

company that gives away dlc for free is the company i want to give my money. i will even pay them 5 bucks for future dlc to continue my support for them. hell, i would even pay 5 bucks for this dlc, if it isnt announced for free.

do i want to support a company that gives dlc for free for only 2 weeks? i dont think so. i wish i could, but i wont. i dont like that direction. maybe, really, maybe, i would give them 5 bucks for it. but the fact that not everyone got the first dlc for free for various reasons, even if they own the game, really lets me doubt if i really want to give that company any more money.

i think we can still change the direction splash damage/bethesda is currently going. we only need to scream loud enough and probably be heard.

After reading and reading posts for several days on the subject, my position from now on concerning the DLC is that they should, at the very least, give the maps for free and charge for the rest.

I know this wont please everybody to the fullest, but it is really the best compromise between players with different views on DLC and the devs/producers we can ask/hope for. The only other option that would please even more people is to give everything for free, but it’s not going to happen in my opinion, they’ll either sell the DLC or cancel any further development forever, people have to really begin to understand this. If it’s all or nothing, it’ll be nothing, if we ask for a reasonable compromise we might just be able to get it.

I am not worried about the peeps outside Founders Tower, only the ones inside. I’ll wave from the top floor at all the folks without the maps. Whoever gets the maps…see ya on the inside! Besides, the riffraff don’t belong in Founder’s Tower. All those on the outside are just the guests.

i am still poorer than heck and i could scrape up 13 dollars after a week or two, if people don’t then they still gave splash damage their money so whatever. they supported indefinitely and if they discontinue their support they lost more money in the long run, when things.

a leat 20 € for 2 maps few weapons and no players on server is very cheap !

Free for the first two weeks simple funny how no one complains on how cod dlcs aren’t free

(wolfnemesis75) #7

not only are they not free, but they are a premium compared to other DLC. $15 as opposed to $10. Or you could join COD Leet. And pay monthly $8. No thanks. I’ll play Brink.

Q. Do you need to already own BRINK in order to D/L the DLC during the free 2 week period?

(wolfnemesis75) #9

I am estimating because of the Patch, yes. Load up the game and it will tell you to install the update and DLC. You wouldn’t want people to be able to download it without owning the game, would you?

Thats how BFBC2 did their one big free DLC where they added a big patch and 4 all new maps at the same time through an update. If you wanted it all but got a used copy you needed the “online VIP pass” to access the full game. I figure Brink will be similar, after the date you will still get the big patch/update but will need to purchase a DLC code or somethin and redeem it to unlock the added content.

We need to let them know without screaming. They are going to ignore flaming screaming crybaby rant posts 'till the cows come home. We need less screaming, and more well thought out and intelligent posts from people that have problems with the game.

That being said, I think the first dlc should be free.
