So I’ve got a few questions about ranked, and I figured this topic would be better since the Competitive Events part of the forum is kind of dead.

 1. If I’m ranked Silver agent with a score of 6/4 and I lose 2 more, am I brought back into like, Bronze specialist? Basically if I lose matches is my score brought down?
 2. I just finished the 10 matches needed for a rank, and I got Silver Agent, when do I get my trinket/when does this season end?
Losing will always bring your Elo down, but it differs depending on the games you lost.
The season’s ending hasn’t been announced, but it will be in a couple months.

I also gotta say that the quality of matches in the gold ranks is extremely good. Its also common that someone posts a TS or discord to meet.

Gold = golden. The placement matches were hell though with a 4-6. Bite the bullet and then carry to the top (or get carried:P)

The best hint for ranked: Dont catch a long spawn - Press K if you need to.

Yes, then he is the unranked [t>].

I have never experienced a game with balanced competitive matchmaking … Maybe CS GO but the playerbase is huge. But yeah , the lower your rank the more trolls you play with. If you like we can try duo que , im no pro but i would call me decent.

(MTLMortis) #27

Played a few matches. It was as horrible as I expected.

 1. Player pool is so small you end up playing with people that far outclass you
 2. Player pool is so small you end up waiting 10+ minutes to even get a match
 3. Worse trolling and raging than in pubs

So yeah, ranked can go coac and diaf.

Didn’t have to be this way but SD screwed the pooch early on by ignoring the hacking and cheating in ranked, let it linger and continue for months and months on end and now the majority of people who would play are gun shy about that mode. That is not something that is fixable in the short or even medium term.

(FalC_16) #28

I don’t play it at all. The wait in lobby is horrendous. No time for that shite

(LoliGagging) #29

duoq is fun 2 guise

i think im a little over 100 games atm
most games are “fair” b/c good players are stuck carrying afks, leavers, pubheros on one team and the other team is full of mediocre but not bad ppl

am gold atm struggling to get out of gold pool b/c long queue times (not all the time, varies 3min to 30min/never) and incompetence (get queued with silvers/bronze/wood against slightly better silver/bronze/wood) this is north america queue btw

gold is as rare as cobalt in ranked preseason lelelel
feels gud

stomps (other team cant do diddly) are uncommon but still there

i gues ranked is better??!?!??111//1?

(Havik_Gaming) #30

@Jesus Yo i would be down to do some ranked with you if you want. i am only lvl 21 but i think i can hold my own. BTW i don’t even have a competitive rank.

(Jesus) #31

@Havik_Gaming Sure why not. Send me a message some day or on steam same name and same picture and steam as on forum.
@Icecoal Sure why not its always good to have some people down for some around

Just don’t stand next to Naders when they explode.
Enemies learn not to run into Naders, but you think as a suicide medic you’re fine running into grenade bait? Especially after you get blown up the first time. Doing life fire revives is a bad practice in general anyways.

If Naders are dying on top of you, don’t clump up. Clumping up in general is a bad idea as well. All you end up accomplishing is catching bullets in the back, and eating aoe. Take a different angle and give the enemy less cover.

I wasnt speaking of martyrdoming i was speaking of them literally shooting at you with their GL because you are with an ennemy a bit upclose and they want the kill

(LifeupOmega) #34

So MM is now a pub with a queue. Honestly, if I wanted to play a pub I’d play a sodding pub.
I feel like the new system is quite fun once you leave the silver pool.
But for that you have to get out of the silver pool ^^’
Damn you, making me play for that green green grass!
im LOVING the new ranked mode, since after placementmatches and reaching gold wvery single game was tight and full of high skill players
want
I understand that there is a small population queueing, max skill scearch is always running, but I don’t understand why the 10 players picked are never balanced between teams. I placed in s2 and it took 51 (52 if I count the win that wasn’t recorded) to get to s1.

Last season I had a 3.0ish w/l mostly solo-queueing, now I’m sitting 29-1-21. That 1 tie was just about the only gg I had. Countless 4v5s, steamrolls, and surrenders aren’t helping the ranked population.
This is vaguely my experience. I took @neverplayserious’ advice from the other thread and will reiterate it here with perhaps my own interpretation:

Try going Fragger on maps with no EV, and take M92 Skyhammer or similar if you’re competent with the weapons (B81 Arty on Chapel works well and you can be a cheekym8 with the arty strike early on) on other maps. If you can, duoqueue and take at least a Fragger all the time. Of course YMMV, if you can bounce and break with a Fletcher then consider that, but I’d say if you’re having trouble, try Fragger.

It has led to slightly better luck for me. For a time anyway.

That’s silly mang, FF means you need to think about what you’re doing with those kind of abilities. If you blow yourself up as nader and TK an incoming medic it means:

 • You weren’t paying attention to the medic coming to rez you
 • You weren’t looking to see if any teammates are within the blast radius

If I throw down an airstrike marker near a hot area of the map and kill half my team I can hardly turn round and say “lol maybe don’t stand so close to the marker then”, that’s my fault for not having enough awareness or foresight about what I’m doing. It’s a similar situation and yeah, sometimes you’re going to be revived in a firefight when you come up, that’s what happens. That can be the twist between a collapsing flank rising again and a longspawn, if the opportunity is there and doesn’t present excessive risk it should be seized, it’s no excuse for crappy Naders to pop it in the medic’s face.
