Third Person

(Mine Diploid) #1

First off I’d like to tell you WHY I want TP in Brink.
One of the many things Brink has to offer is a wide variety of customization options, such as gun customization, character customization, ect, ect.
However, since we’re in first person, we can’t see the customization we’ve put into our characters. The most we can see is the sleeves of a long sleeve jacket, or tats, ect.
But not make it a toggleable option from the options menu because that would make the game unfair.
I believe they should implement third person as an option for servers. For instance, you can simply click a button and it’d activate third person on the server or first person.

no to 3rd person… it’s an FPS game.

maybe that can put a taunt (like in TF2) that shows your character for 5 seconds in 3rd world view.

(MrLevi) #3

Please no taunts. I have horrible flashbacks of heavies on my team doing nothing but taunt-eating sandviches. :frowning:

As for third person; You can see your character when you start brink. When in game, you should be focusing on the game, not how pretty your pants are.

(scub) #4

could be a simple taunt like ‘Brink it’ (when customizing your character).

You make it seem as if Brink isn’t for fun.
I like to do pistol only matches wit my friends, and we’d all like if it was in 3p, just for the hell of it, would be more fun.

Also, when you get killed, and you’re spectating, that’s in third person, there’s no 1st person specate.
So why can we spectate only in 3rd person, and can’t play it, even in the privacy of a barely populated server, or a private match??

in a FPS game 3rd view is cheating… you’ll pretty much have a 360 degree view around you.

Made an account just to comment on this. I think third person (as an option) would be excellent. It would barely affect gameplay, but it would be awesome just for playing with. Especially because you really don’t get a sense of the customization outside of the character editor.

I think the biggest use for it, would be easier SMART movement. It’s still somewhat awkward climbing up some obstacles, and would just plain be cool to see. I mean, even R6 Vegas 2 had a cheat to allow third person view. I got quite a bit more life out of it with that cheat.

I think it should be considered, since, I imagine, it would be an easy option to test and add.

third person in a first person shooter game, your as big an idiot as the OP’er

Why did you by an FPS to then ask then to turn it to a third person shooter

I didn’t tell them to turn it into a third person shooter you dumb****, I said to give it as an option. AS AN OPTION. Not a mandatory feature. I like FPS and TPS, I’d like to play both on Brink, that’s it. I’m not gonna die if they don’t add it.damn.

(PillowTalk) #10

There’s 3rd person if you have Sense of Perception. That’s all I really need.

If you want to admire your character, just leave the game on the main menu.

(Wieke) #11

Shouldn’t the yes and no answers be mutually exclusive?

Regarding 3d person perspective: I wouldn’t use it. I wouldn’t mind it if it’s added either. (Sense of Perspective is useless, just take combat intuition, keep an eye on the radar and you’re covered.) Though I’d say the have more pressing matters to fix at the moment.

(Norb) #12

I dont see how if they added it in as an ‘option’ it would be fair on those who choose not to use it as they ones who do will have a better view on what is happening and therefore be able to react quicker and respond to people being behind them see people flanking jsut off where the screen normally would end on FPS. then forcing everyone into using this ‘option’ its ridiculous I bought an FPS not and FPS or TPS depending on what you fancy.

And the idea of making it an option to check out your guy with is just lame

(Theironenforcer) #13

Would love to have it 3rd person so I can see all the crazy parkour stuff my guy does and I like that view better

(TheBIG_Lebowski) #14

I thought BRINK was an FPS???

(Norb) #15

it is im as confused as you as to why people bought an FPS now want it to become a TPS

:stroggtapir:

(meccs) #16

Not going to happen! But I personally love 3rd person.

(weeschwee) #17

sheesh people are rude! i’d be fine with people having 3rd person view as long as it is strictly in single player or co-op. i myself don’t like the idea of a 3rd person view in a first person shooter, but i don’t see why it shouldn’t be an option in non versus play (other than the devs having other things to do).

(fearlessfox) #18

Let me put it this way: when you dress yourself in the real world you don’t get to see your clothes all day unless you stand around looking at your reflection.

We dress (amonsgt other reasons, of course) to put an image across to others, and that’s exactly what we do in Brink.

(KAS--Will) #19

Yeah… no… going 3rd Person changes gameplay in a game, it’s fine JUST the way it is…

Besides, WTF is up with answer number 3?
