hey i was caught up in the hype of this game a few months back but after the disaster that was crysis 2 thought i would wait it out. i know the reviews are a little negative but wondered what you guys thought of the game and if it was worth getting. i see theres only about 322 people on the 360 leaderboard is this really how small the community is ?
Thinking about picking up Brink on the 360
From a PC players perspective, it’s one of the best shooters I’ll be playing this year, but it’s a love it or hate it kind of game. Try to play it at a friends house first.
If your really stuck on the fence I’d say rent it for a night (or better yet play at a friends as previously metioned) and see if you could get into it. If your still undecided about it maybe wait another little while to see what kind of support the game will have (after the AOF dlc) and things like that
Another thing to consider before you buy is if you have friends who play/will play as this will definiately make the game more enjoyable and for longer
Hopefully this’ll help you out,

This game is dead. It’s Sunday and I can’t find a server to play on that’s not in France.
Definitely give it a try. Just don’t buy it to give it that try.
The game just doesn’t offer much in the way of content or depth and isn’t quite as fun as other FPS games. It’s nice to create custom characters and personalize their weapons, but in the end it really doesn’t mean anything and everyone just sprays from the hip with the same weapons making the game that already has very little depth and content seem even less empty and fulfilling in the game play department.
It is a throwback to older PC titles and the early days of FPS games, which might explain why the older PC crowd seems to dig it a little more than the console players who are used to a different style of game play when it comes to shooters.
Playing with friends is best for Brink.
On that note, there are a ton of people on this forum who share Gamertags and play together. If you are short on Xbox Live Brink Friends, then consider adding the people you meet here.
it’s fun in short bursts. personally, i can’t put hours into this game like some people do on here without getting bored. but like i said, it’s fun if you play for 30 minutes to an hour. also, the community IS very small.
You give people five hours on a Sunday morning to respond? Leaderboards are irrelevant to the main game.
This. Also…
That’s 322 members of this forum who entered their GamerTag in their profile
No GT, no entry on the Leaderboard. No forum profile here, no entry on the Leaderboard. Brink has sold over 500,000 copies on the 360. This community does support all platforms, but SD’s games are historically PC - with ET:QW being ported to console by external developers. You’ll mostly find PC players here, I’d say
the leader boards are very hard to get on on this game. my gamer tag happens to be on there because i happened to complete challenges.
but what you didnt realize is that these last challenges are VERY difficult and id say about .1% of the people on xbox even did them which, in the case of this game was the only funcionality of the leader voards.
id say any given night there are 3000+ online.
its worth at least a rent because its not every ones type of game.
I’d try it out. At least rent it and see if it appeals to you.
I play on PC and really enjoy the game.
See other comments here RE: the community size etc (lots of xbox copies sold).
(Hopefully he/she’ll come back and read this thread, although I fear they’ve left already).

Expanding on what “its al bout security” was saying:
According to the steam stats page (http://steamcommunity.com/stats/brink/achievements/) only 29.1% have completed “Very well done indeed! - Complete your first 3 Star Challenge” and only 4.2% have completed “King of the world! - Complete all 3 Star Challenges”. (These are PC stats I believe… or do they include PS3 nowadays?)
Since you need to finish 3 stars before you get on the leaderboards I’d say that leaderboards are not very representative of the community. Most people unlock 1 & 2 stars and then stop because 3 stars don’t unlock any equipment.
The OP is talking about the community leaderboard here guys, not the challenges - hence the mention of 322 people

Yeah, not everyone has signed up for the forum that plays the game. A forum is usually representative of the hardcore and very passionate gamer. Many will hover the forum as a guest…and often will finally sign up if they get tweaked enough.
Come join the forum. We don’t bite! Much!
I used to be quite high up on that leaderboard, I think I was 10th place at one point… then 312 xbox players added their gamertags
I wouldnt bother, i re-rented it over the weekend and the 360 patch has not sorted the lag, it has made it slightly better but its still a question of join/leave/join/leave until you find a half decent host.
Also because of this failed patch are alot less people playing … and when you do find a playable game get ready for Carb9 headshot ninja’s lurking in every corner (i though that gun was getting balanced??).
This was my 2nd rent of the game since launch and tbh im done, im not gonna bother again regardless of what free map & weapon DLC they throw at us because the games online architecture is just plain borked
I’d say rent but it’s deep game that takes time to sink in so it’s hard to say, it certainly isn’t for everyone but I love it.
My mate in the UK has the 360 version and he always gets a game, no worries at all there
I have the ps3 and xbox version, and my roomate has Brink for PC and xbox.
We’ve had them since launch.
He plays the on PC still with his clan, but the xbox and ps3 versions are ghost towns and I’m having a hard time keeping interest (my ps3 version is already up on ebay…). The only way to play is to add the people in Brink communities to your friends list and organise matches.
It’s not a terrible way to play, but public games with random players are a big part of online gaming. It gets quite dull playing with the same people after a while, especially for those players who look for a challenge that might be lacking amongst the few still playing in their timezones.
Brink isn’t worth buying right now, imo, but I’m the type of gamer who likes the option of branching out into the big wide world of public games every now and then and Brink just can’t support this on consoles right now.
I’m astonished at the amount of negative this game has received. Maybe people are just getting very very picky, maybe it doesn’t take much to satisfy me or maybe I’m just a huge fan of objective-oriented games (like Wolfenstein or ET, I have never even been close to play a game more than these two).
But I LOVE this game. Its awesome in so many ways and different from other shooters it just got me hooked. People who complain on lag, have you ever tried Competition? 5 vs 5, no bots, no lag, and great players who know what to do and help each other. Other than that if you get a 8 vs 8 with mostly humans its even better. Lastly, play this game with a mic and teammates who have one too and by Jesus the fun just never stops. Call me fanboy if you like, I’ve played all the other shooters (Battlefield, Call Of Duty) and this one has its own style.
Anyways, in short, try it for yourself before you let other people cloud your judgment. There is tons of fun to have with this game if you overcome the few flaws here and there
