Think I would notice FPS difference If I buy this?

(Sabayon) #1

After this new patch my FPS drops more often now… Been thinking about doing this for a while and just buy another card and have a sli setup. Question is do you think I will notice much of a difference? I know I will in other games, but more interested in Brink. When I had this card I figured it would be good enough by itself but doesn’t seem to be the case at all (190fps standing still - 2-90fps shooting / walking around), and If I enable Vsync it stays at around 2-60fps going up and down.)

My Machine Specs:

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 2.66GHz
Memory: 8GB RAM DDR2
Video Card: GeForce GTX 560 ti - 1GB DDR5

I don’t really want to put money into a whole computer and hope adding graphics card would be reasonable solution to fix the problem. Unless its just the game… I don’t have any issues with any other game so not sure. Any help would be appreciated.

Well the game is very GPU dependent so upgrading your GPU is really the only way to go.

no, it isn’t
you can find many threads stating the opposite

updating to quad core like Q9550, I think will give you bettter results for same money

I’ll be updating to quadcore next. I ended up going with the SLI since my friend used his employee discount at local computer store and saved me 90$. Couldn’t pass it up  The game runs smooth now.

EVGA has a SLI fix on their website

Thanks. I’ll check that out.

I doubt it will have any effect.

1:it’s the game that is poorly coded
or
2:it’s the driver creators being to lazy to keep Open GL up to date

A GTX 560 Ti should be able to run this game 2x at the same time.Hello? It’s a 8vs8 game (even less then CoD) with mediocre graphics that look like they are from 2007 and compared to other shooters,TINY Maps.

If i really have to get a i5 and a monster of graphics card to get this game working on 50 FPS then, well,BYE!

Dont waste your money dude. Brink is poorly coded thats the reason it doesnt run smooth on a lot of systems. And i cant say it often enough: CPU demand is overrated for most pc games. I play on a HD 5870 (quite good card) and an E8400 2x 3ghz and play almost every game very smooth on high settings. no cpu bottleneck. Exception is BFBC2 wich is very demanding. A quadcore would help here but bfbc2 still runs ALOT smoother than brink does now. So dont waste your money. wait for patches or play something else. ATM its like lottery to get a rig that has no porbs with brink…

What qualifies you to say brink is poorly coded? You have not even seen the code.

No, you are better off getting a faster cpu then more cores and it’s best to wait for the next patch and newer video card drivers come out first before you upgrade any thing.

Fanboi incoming…
Because every other game runs great on my rig while brink looks “low average” and runs like ****. Maybe its ATIs and Nvidias fault or Microsofts too maybe gods fault… i dont really care. its a fact that brink isnt a good benchmarking tool atm.

BTW: your recommendation “faster cpu instead of more cores” is just stupid. Dont waste your money on another Dualcore… Thats waste. Rather save the money to buy you a new rig someday…

2-90fps while shooting/running? I run smoother with a GTX260 SE than that, pretty weird. Glad you got it running better with SLI but still… thats just weird, 2fps?

(Sabayon) #12

Yeah it would spike down to 2 fps with the new patch. Was pretty odd.
