They should've got rid of "Win competetive match" mission instead of secondary objectives.

Don’t understand why the secondary objective mission was such an issue for a lot of people. I thought it was a good mission because it

  1. Was fun
  2. Depended on your own skill to do
  3. Encouraged more people to play objective instead of TDM
  4. Encouraged people to play other classes.

Now, the “Win X competitive matches” mission is awful, because your skill has little to do with it. Even the greatest player will fail if they are playing on a poor team that’s playing TDM instead of objectives. It doesn’t help that you cant switch teams in comp, so you are stuck replaying matches over and over hoping to get a decent team. It’s not a mission that really counts on your skill, but more on the luck of which team you are randomly paired up with.

It also makes people who don’t normally play or enjoy competitive, play comp games and not do well, messing it for dedicated comp players.

That’s why I think it should be removed, instead of the “X secondary objectives”.

These kinds of mission was fun when you could do it in elevetors. Later it became pain in the ass since there is not enough secondary objevtives on maps.

  5. Encourages people to let enemy to repair or destroy the secondary obj so they could get more of secondary objs done.
  6. Makes people to guess what secondary objs actually count as secondary objs.

Anyways… yeah… winning a comp match is a horrible idea for a mission. Especially if you don’t go in with 4 friends who know how to play.

(Litego) #4

This one especially pissed me off. For example the side doors on Underground don’t count for whatever reason.

And yeah, it did make me allow them to plant on secondary objectives just so I could defuse it. But to be fair, I do the exact same thing with game mode XP. On defense I will let them repair the EV so I can disable it again, same with secondary objectives. Unless I’m against a team I might actually lose to though, then I just play a regular game.

(DMaster2) #5

Both secondary objectives and win competitive are awful and the latter should be cancelled from the game as well.

(messiah) #6

Secondary missions causes players to only do them and never do the main objective…good lord underground was a pain to play when that was a thing. >:-O

  1. It wasn’t fun, it was a chore.
  2. What does that even mean?
  3. It encouraged people to prioritise the side objectives over the main objective.
  4. That’s what merc specific missions are for.

  1. Maybe to a player who plays TDM, but for someone who plays for objectives like me, it was fun to do.
  2. It means you could earn the mission even if your team is complete garbage, just by being skilled at the game. “Win 1 comp game” mission is impossible to do no matter how good you are, if your team is garbage. Missions that depend directly on other player’s actions shouldn’t exist, it should be based on your own skills.
  3. For certain people maybe, but side objectives are all tied into the main objective and help those who do the main obj.
  4. Merc specific missions just ask you to “Have X merc in squad”, not play as X merc.

I’d remove them and simply create a “first competitive match of the day” bonus.

(RyePanda) #10

That would just make it so people basically have a play comp mission every day. IMO a step backwards

It would be a plus, but without taking up mission slots. Would stimulate more people to play comp, but not make level 5s feel like they are forced to do it to complete their mission sets.

It’s still 500 credits whether it’s a mission or a bonus.

Edit: Meaning that level 5’s (and everyone else) will still do it in order to get more credits.

Secondary objective missions were bugged af. Only the first time SOMEONE did one on the map counted. You were forced to play Proxy on Underground to finish them fast.
Also they were bugged for the second team. Repairing a generator for the first time counts, blowing it up after than didn’t.

  1. No it wasn’t
  2. No it didn’t
  3. No it didn’t
  4. No it didn’t

Go back to r/bronies and spew out more nonsense there.

Implying I use reddit.

Excellent analysis there, and great arguments. No wonder you think I’m from reddit, you’re probably using that cesspool yourself.
