They fixed the ping! (for me) (not click bait)

So you do care about me, Thank you for entering

Yes, finally, I have got my sweet 70 ping back.
Since the 14.7 hotfix I had 100 ping and that was really really sad and bad. For everybody who didn’t believe me, now you can. Still, I didn’t got my BADGES THAT I EARNED but the ping is good so I am happy.

Thank you SD for listening to me and making this happen, now release Dockyard and then I will buy elite cases o:)

I was having problems with rubberbanding and a weird fluctuating ping. Like I’ve had issues before (most likely with my internet company) where my ping would go from 40 up to 100-200 (it would fluctuate in increments of 4-10 really fast, up and down, between 100-200). Then, after that last update, it started going up and down quickly in increments of 2-6 and within 10-20 of my normal ping. So it was definitely different and I’m guessing that could have been something with Dirty Bomb.

I know rubberbanding and stuff like that have been issues in DB for quite some time now.

Yeah, people say that the servers are bad because it is a free to play game and also a beta. I really hope that now when SD will get that 150 mil in 3 years so they will get better servers.

Are you talking about the sale? That money doesn’t go to SD or help their budget. When you buy a company the money you pay goes to the former owner.

The real difference may be if they decide to invest into SD beyond their existing profit/budget.

I’ve personally never felt that the servers ran overly bad in any way… I play on US East servers, don’t know if there is an issue going on somewhere else.

If I connect to a server with a higher ping, sure I feel the difference… but as for any issues with teleporting it has been on my end like 99% of the time.

Situations where this might happen can be caused by many things… someone else on the network using the bandwidth (netflix, torrents, any other kind of download or upload)

The worst however, is when OTHER people are lagging, its more detrimental to your performance than your own ping most of the time.

I really wish SD would implement an auto-kick feature that checks for high ping as well as packet loss. Lots of times people’s pings will look fine, yet they teleport around the map… this isn’t SDs server’s at fault… they issue is that that player is likely experiencing packet loss and some of the data is not being received, or sent at all which causes jumps, or teleports to happen when the data actually is sent.

The server could issue a warning to the player who is having network issues (ping, or packetloss) and warn them that a kick will happen within 1 minute if the issue is not corrected.

Splash Damage has nothing to do with the servers, Nexon controls everything about them

Sometimes I do have packet loss and that is 100% because of the servers. If I will play another game like Overwatch, CSGO, Planetside 2, Battlefield games and many more, My ping will be FINE without any packet loss.
People are lagging because the servers arent that good (because it is a free to play beta mostly).[quote=“Nail;197510”][quote=“AnotherGuy;197436”][quote=“Sploosh;197435”]I was having problems with rubberbanding and a weird fluctuating ping. That isn’t what I mean though. If only one or two players are warping around while everyone else is fine, then the problem is not with the server or EVERYONE would be warping. I play this game pretty regularly and never see that type of issue personally. (I usually play on US East)

If only a couple of people are warping due to packet loss then the loss can be happening from any point on any network past Nexon’s servers and that player’s PC. The problem could be on a network that both the player and Nexon have nothing to do with, unfortunately all that can be done in those cases is bare with it.

If the problem is only with this game, in every other game I play I don’t have any lag problems.
Only in Dirty Bomb I have problems that every 5 minutes I will have an error “connection to the server lost, trying to reconnect”, in that time my game is half dead for 2 seconds. In those 2 seconds my player will move as I moved before that. everybody in the server will see that I just run\walk. It can be into walls or it can be just like I normally go, This is not warping at all.

It happens only in Dirty Bomb so the problem is in the servers. Maybe you are closer to the servers then me.

(Amerika) #12

Packet loss isn’t caused by servers. Packet loss is caused by your connection from where you are to where the server is. If everyone else is fine on the server then it’s your issue. However, since networking is complicated and your ISP can only control the first few hops that they own (last mile stuff) then there is little they can do sometimes if you are constantly getting packet loss to a specific location.

That’s just common networking knowledge.

That’s what I am talking about. Your ISP only has control over the “last mile” of hops from where you live out to the backbones. On the way from where you live to where the server is located is a bunch of destinations typically referred to as “hops”. These are routers that are routing your traffic and hopefully doing so in a manner that is the fastest and least likely to drop packets. However, that doesn’t happen sometimes and you’ll end up with packet loss.

Other games don’t give you the problem because those other games aren’t located at the same data center that is running the DB servers you’re connecting to. If there is a troubling hop between where you live and where the DB servers are then you’ll have the issue you described and your ISP can’t fix it and neither can Splash Damage. The issue is happening on hops that are out of everyone’s control and there isn’t a ton you can do about it outside of forcing your route to change if you know how to do that via proxies.

Have you tried connecting to other DB servers that aren’t your lowest ping? Ones with a higher ping? Do those play smoother or do you get the same issue? If you get the same issue the problem could be your CPU overheating which is ridiculously common (even though everyone instantly claims they aren’t even without checking) and can cause warping, rubberbanding and stuttering.

Good to know thank you

No I didn’t try to connect to other servers because the ping there is more then 130 and above that isn’t playable.

You helped me with the CPU problems, you said it wasn’t overheating but close to. So I am using a config and my CPU is at less then 50% load so it isn’t my CPU…
