There needs to be "Low Ammo" indicators above players

(Azure Emulation) #1

Just a copypasta from the Steam Forums to get more feedback on this suggestion.

There are currently “incapacitated” indicators for Medic Mercs (Sparks, Aura, Sawbonez) when other allies are downed, so that they know who to revive and when.

In that case, then it’s only fair for the Fire Support Mercs (Kira, Skyhammer, Arty) to have “low ammo” signs above allies that are down to their last magazine. Just a simple Quality of Life improvement that hurts no one. Right now it just feels like I have to throw around Ammo Packs everywhere since I can’t know who is in dire need of it, unless quickchat is spammed.

Meanwhile, Medic Mercs have all the information they need on their UI. Rarely does anyone ever need to spam quickchat commands for healing and revives, since the UI displays ally health and that “incapacitated” indicator when they are downed. Once again, it’s only fair that Fire Supports get a similarly informative UI.

YES!!! And brink had it so why not here?

(CCP115) #3

Isn’t this already in the game?

(ThatRandomGuy) #4

Actually if a player requests ammo, you can see bullets sign on top of the player’s head…

So to actually make it useful, start requesting for ammo when you run out 1/2 ammo of your total capacity !

I’ve danced in front of Skyhammers yelling “give me ammo” and they still don’t do it.

It seems like some Skyhammers assume the ammo is only for themselves?

Because no one liked Brink… I still don’t get why they would use the same damn art style… Brink is the only game people hated from SD, and they base their new game after it…

Gotta disagree with that, ET:QW was far worse than Brink was

Low ammo players already have that if you’re an ammo giving class. Or they do for me.

But ET was given positive reviews. Personally, I don’t like any of SD’s work. But out of all their games, Brink was their most bashed game. You can see it alot on YT too. TotalBiscut made the comment “It’s kinda like brink.” There isn’t a point to make a game, for people who liked Brink, because it’s fewer then ET. I like it (so far) but I am sure the game would be better revived if it looked like an ET clone. Personally, I wouldn’t play it if it was based off ET … I didn’t Sudden Attack…

Propably because the artstyle of brink was the one thing that was well received by most players and reviewers. They hated the (lack of) speed and the lackluster singleplayer.

back to topic someone else suggested that already and I wouldn’t want a constant status (like the health) but a auto pop up as soon as someone reaches his last primary magazine would be nice.

That is agreeable.

As for part 2, Not just Primary, but secondary too. This game really has a good balance for both, and I weirdly enough find myself running out of pistol bullets some times.

(Reddeadcap) #12

I always feel like the ammo indicator appears when players are at their last mag, can someone verify that? Outside of that I wish there was a “magazine ammo bar” or just give me a number of their primary /secondary’s total bullets under or over their health.

(Old Man) #13

Totally agree.

(defiantLayer) #14

I really like brink … if only the netcode was better on 360.

(D.C.V.) #15

There is an ammo indicator but I’m not sure what causes it to appear. I’ve seen people who had run out of ammo on their primary and there was no indicator above them.

The ammo indicator should appear as soon as someone has only 2 mags left(1 loaded and 1 in the pocket).

EDIT: Maybe add an ammo bar above our teammates? It’s going to be similar to the health bar but with a slightly different color, and it’s going to show us exactly how many bullets they’ve fired. If medics can see health bars, ammo classes should see ammo bars.

(Gi.Am) #16

not 100% sure but as far as I know it only shows up when someone is out of primary ammo and requests them via. the quickvoice commands.

(Amerika) #17

You have to use V22 to get the ammo image above your head so that ammo givers can see it. And it would appear a lot people do not know this. And then you compound that problem with people who are playing an ammo class not really even noticing it because some people tend to tunnel vision.

(Beatnik) #18

This. Just a thin yellow (or honestly, whatever color) bar under health, very slender, to see who needs it. Possibly some effect also to denote it easier.

(Azure Emulation) #19

I wake up to find that half of my thread is a Brink discussion. Wonderful.

It technically is as I’ve noticed the marker a few times, but from my experience it’s rarely ever been triggered. I don’t know what causes it to happen. Is it when people completely run out? When people use the V-2-2 command? When both of those things happen at the same time? I’m not sure. But if it’s being triggered this rarely, then there’s clearly a problem.

It’s because of this unintuitive design that such a system would be better off being a more frequent, passive notification system. Battlefield 4 had something similar, although it wasn’t perfect as the ammo indicator would appear every time people were below max ammo. Again, Medics get similar, frequent aids on their UI, so why not Fire Supports too?

It would be tons more informative, true. The challenge in that is figuring out how to implement such a notification system without cluttering the UI too much. Thin, bright bar would be awesome.
