There needs to be a merc who is from Iran/Iraq/Pakistan/Afghanistan

Ik Turtle is Turkey but I couldn’t tell that he was, becasue his features make him look American. For example, ethnicity is Iranian but Born and Raised in the US but you can still tell I’m from Iran.

A merc’s abilities are more important than their backstory.

Make a suggestion. Remember though Abilities>Stats>Story.

And that is why I facepalm at people that actually bother to take the time and praise Dirty Bomb for its varied character styles, and people that complain that X racial group or body style isn’t represented. This is a FPS, Fragger could be a giant walking pumpkin monster for all I care, I don’t want your identity politics bullshit when that time and effort could go into better abilities and playstyles. I don’t main Bushwhacker because he’s a smooth-talkin’ Texan, I main him because I enjoy setting up lethal crossfires with the Turret and playing the Objective. I don’t care who Nader sleeps with, I just want a lot of grenades in one area on short notice.

I vote “No”. I don’t have anything against a Middle Eastern Merc. I just want a Merc who’s well balanced and fun to play, and they could just happen to be Middle Eastern if that’s the particular character design they went with.

I agree that Turtle does look very American (might be because of his cute punk look), even Proxy (Who’s from London) is darker than him with her sports tan.

This all might just be a misunderstanding though, since the devs just can’t seem to settle on the “true” look of a character. The cg renders and the in-game models look far different from each other. Kira used to be in the same situation; she looked noticeably more western but her design was eventually changed to look more Japanese.

Also, London has a big community of the races you mentioned, so I doubt the devs would miss out on making mercs with those ethnicities in the future. And who knows, maybe they’ll update Turtle just like Kira.

Although Turtle can pass off as Caucasian, I still reckon he could pass off as a Turk as well.

Thats actually very interesting about Kira. That’s one thing the devs do, constantly changing their minds but can’t blame them since this is beta and their trying things out. However, correct me if I am wrong, They should approach their material how facepunch does with Rust, Like release devblogs on the material their coming outwith (Because its Beta). I mean if you think about it, its not really complete yet and really its an “early access game” since the devs are still making game changes and releasing map prototypes etc.

If I’m not mistaken, Kira’s head has been changed between earlier and later stages of the game’s beta for a more realistic japanese characteristics rather than a bit like an anime character.

Turtle, I swore was russian before due to the tattoo patterns and the shirt he’s wearing, which I thought was in cyrillic.

Character Nationality doesn’t say much as there could be 3-5 lines at most with each character involving their nationality, everyone could’ve actually been from London and all worked on doing nothing but make as many puns as Proxy does about mines and sports when using her default cricket bat, what matters more to me is about how well designed for their roles are, Nader being head to toe in grenades, Rhino being armor plated, from neck to toe, only declining the helmet due to how rediculously armored he is and that they’re easy to tell apart from each other.

I could bring up how theres so far just a single game where a character of my nationality is portrayed as a playable character and even then not in a bright light, but I don’t care I’m too busy playing a game and more focus on what weapons they carry, appearance and abilities they deploy.

Someone posted fanart of possible mercs but the technology of them seams a bit too out there for the setting of Dirty Bomb, but on a game with a lower suspension of disbelief they’d look more fitting because of how hightech or impractical a lot of stuff looks, even more so than a lot in dirtybomb, even abilities were just too “cartoony?” and more fitting for Overwatch or Battleborn, no real way to explain it.

if there was a merc, head to toe in a hazmat suit and layers upon layers of armor that you can’t even tell who he is and speaks in almost understandable dialogue (more so than the tf2 pyro) but just clear enough to understand what they’ve said with a clear cut weapon, role and ability I would no doubt enjoy using them.
