I often worry about making a map and finding out someone was already doing the same theme.
I am making a map and later found out someone else’s map had the same name, on the bright side mine has a different word for that same name.
Am I just worrying too much? Just make the map, maybe my take on the theme will be better if I have the bad luck of coincidence?
I will say my map is based on an already done theme but with a slight plot twist.
It’s that twist that worries me. 
Compare LOTR. It had been done before. But some dudes (Peter Jackson and co.) though: “Hm, we can do it differently.”

PS. Why wasn’t there a scene in LOTR 3, where Gandalf and Sauroman did a FINAL BATTLE. Hm, maybe I should do a re-make of the film, to show the world my version?
They cut sauroman out of the final movie for some reason. Probably to make room for that hour long boredom fest after the ring was destroyed.
And yes, your worrying too much. Even if you have a similar theme, the maps will certainly be different.
if your that worried then post your ideas here first. that way if someone else makes something similar then at leats you point to your thread and say you throught of it first :moo:
As long as the map name is distinct, the bit that shows up in the server browsers, people will be able to differentiate.
As for Saruman, PJ said ‘he was part of TTT, so it felt silly including it in RotK’. Of course, then the annoying arse should have put the Saruman showdown in the end of TTT. I could rant forever on the crapness of the films though, but I won’t bother you people here with it, I visit a LotR site to do that 
Actually, I loved everything about the film except the screenplay - hence why I’m happy to base maps on the locations etc.
Just to add a little to the LOTR side-topic - They are supposed to add the 10 minute final wizard battle between Gandolf & Saruman to the DVD release of Return of The King, as well as a drinking contest between Legolas & Gimli.

And lots of other things they should never have cut. Do a google search for return of the king and christopher lee to see what kind of stupidity PJ did.

but as for theme coincidence… i say let er rip… do what you thought of and don’t look back…

yes u worry too much, just think like an artist, be creative, i mean for hells sake, r u gona make an exact copy? NO YOUR NOT!!! DONT PANIC!!!
