The Vengeance Obsidian

(PD_Agent47) #1

So The only possibility of getting this obsidian is by paying $15 right ??? or is there any other way i could get that one … like the phoenix one is there any criteria to fulfil to get that obsidian without paying $15 ???

P.S. I am broke very badly right now :disappointed:

(Rjsto) #2

Well the criteria IS having extra 15USD on your account :#

I think the only way to obtain it is through the $15 purchase. Honestly, this isn’t a bad thing though. While I am sorry to hear you won’t be able to make the purchase for it, it’s about time Splash Damage gave us something other than mercs to spend our $$$ on that isn’t mercs, or a slot machine (as @Amerika would say!).

(Jostabeere) #5

15$ for ONE loadout? I rather buy an EA or Ubisoft game instead. Sorry. Or burn the money.

And that too, lol. But I mean, she gonna be super awesome and interesting. 15$ more interesting than Phoenix.

(jollyRacer) #8

Its an exclusive obsidian loadout, probably will look different from the obsidian ones? Whatever the case, as @Faraleth said, this is a great and needed move for SD. They will be able to earn money from devoted players to help the game and in other words, help the game stay free.

Look at CS:GO, an awp skin can easily cost $60, we don’t even wanna get into knife skins.
This is small change as compared to those games.

"Hey guys, remember before when we decided people could buy Phoenix with ingame credits and get a cool limited edition skin? Remember how some people missed out because they didn’t have the time to grind, OR money to throw at a merc?

Well now we’re doing it again! And this time you CAN’T use ingame credits! AT ALL!"

Well thanks SD. Thanks for alienating a massive part of the playerbase that were hoping to get an Obsidian card after seeing so many other people getting one.

$15 USD as well? Oh man, I’m gonna have to dig real deep into the couch change fund.

They are giving two though, one of which is bought with in game currency, other one with real money. People have been telling how they want to use real money to buy cosmetics, they decided to go the best possible route and give both, one for those who don’t wanna spend any money, possibly two for those who do

@CCP115 it’s a skin. Something that is 100%, ENTIRELY cosmetic. It has no impact on the gameplay what-so-ever. Dirty Bomb is in much need of some non-RNG based microtransactions to help keep development moving forward, there’s no denying that.

This is honestly a good move for Splash Damage and the community. Complaining about not receiving a premium skin is quite frankly absurd and I’m not sure I can think of a single other F2P game that allows users to get a bunch of skins like that for free.

I had a feeling the “free” players would complain about this, and if they keep it up, it might make Splash Damage think “Well if people are just going to complain, we may as well just stick with the elite case system”…

Valve isn’t getting all the money. They only get like 15% from steam market. And the most expensive skins go through skin sites, so Valve doesn’t get money that way or get changed.

Yet do you see other F2P games making cosmetics limited time only, tied to events, then removed from the game entirely forever? Especially considering that SD has basically nothing that is in the ingame store permanently, everything gets swapped out per event, except the mercs, and I’m not entirely sure who even buys the mercs with real money.

This could also be a real kick in the balls for fre players who were looking forward to the event, only to find that one of the 6 mystery icons was… a paid option. Only.

Is it that hard to make trinkets permanently buyable? League of Legends, CS:GO, and TF2 all have major stores, that very rarely have limited time events, but have incredibly large pools of items to choose from, and more importantly, very good item circulation between players.

We have $15 loadout cards available for 5 weeks, then gone. Forever. Not even guaranteed to be tradeable.

EDIT: Also a quick mention, the relative value of DB loadout cards to CS:GO skins and TF2 hats is pretty ridiculous. Again, loadout cards available for 5 weeks, gone. TF2 hats, available for basically any time at all. The exclusivity of cards also makes them so much rarer, and important to grab now, while TF2 simply works off of people making small transactions daily.

(Rjsto) #14

It wasn’t one of the 6 mystery items though, just an extra goody :#

(MarsRover) #15
  1. unknown merc
  2. one unknown loadout

No RNG, right

Edit:
Well, technically it’s not RNG. But I still don’t know what I’m buying, so it may as well be RNG.

(doxjq) #16

Wonder what loadout it is. Personally I like the idea of obsidian cards, but if it’s a terrible loadout like hell am I going to want to spend $15 on it when I have more than enough in game credits.

(n-x) #17

@Rjsto Isn’t the one you buy for 15 dollar the culprit card (obsidian) for the merc that gets played most from the 4 suspects? Or is there one to buy in the Aimee bundle and one for the determined culprit?

(PD_Agent47) #18

But $15 is little high I think so … There are so many loyal fans to DB like me who can’t throw the money at the time they need it … It’s really disappointing that the obsidian comes for 15$ and that too for 5 weeks only :disappointed:

P.S. I missed my chance of phoenix obsidian and was waiting for really a long time to get my first obsidian … Lvl 46 still owns no obsidian

(Rjsto) #19

It is for the culprit from what I gathered, so you get two obsidians for the culprit if you get everything there is to get. I still do wish that they have pretermined obsidian loadouts for all possible culprits and they’ll show them, like it has always been with obsidians

From what I understood the culprit case contains an event card for the specific merc.
The aimee bundle contains an Obsidian card for the culprit case as well.
Does that mean you would get an Obsidian and an event card for that merc?

This is confusing. :o
