The trading system

(SteelMailbox) #1

So awhile ago we got conformation that the ability to trade cards between players is coming to DB.
Not so long ago we are also told that that feature is currently not being worked on.
So I thought “What better time it is to suggest ideas for the trading system than now”/
So go, leave your suggestion in this thread and hopefully Shoe or MissMurder will note em down.
My idea: Community market.
This is something that a lot of MP Valve games have and to be honest it only helped the game.
The concept of playing a game and earning money from it can drive some people to actually play the game.
Sure this also opens a door for scammers but sadly this is unavoidable.

I believe Steam inventory and community market is the sole reason this feature will take so long to develop. It requires input from Valve as well as integration with their current system, as well as converting all the current “objects” (loadout cards) into tradeable items. So, I guess… Soon?

Let’s say, that a bronze card would cost 1$.
Currently a bronze card requires you to have 9 lead cards or 3 iron cards to trade up.
I feel like we need card values to be low enough, to not make them render trade up useless.
9 leads to trade to bronze, 20 to buy your desired bronze card. So no RNG involved in this for gods sake.
Values like these would be fair imo

  • Lead: 0.05$
  • Iron: 0.20$
  • Bronze: 1.00$
  • Silver: 5.0$
  • Gold: 25.0$
  • Cobalt: 175.0$

I know that 175$ sounds like a lot for a cobalt, and it is, but the high price is there just so you can’t buy a cobalt by first selling 2 or 3 golds.
These prices would be fair because you would need to spend more cards to get that specific card.
Any constructive feedback is welcome !

Edit: I also thought that it would make sense to make only cards of bronze rarity, or higher qualified for selling.
That way the prices could be lowered to get these values.

  • Bronze: 0.25$
  • Silver: 1.25$
  • Gold: 6.25$
  • Cobalt: 43.75$

@moon_moon if they implement something like the Steam community market, the actual value of the cards won’t be decided by anyone but will result naturally from supply and demand and how they relate to the existing pricing points of the store: cost of specific Bronze loadouts, cost of random Bronze+ (Expert cases), and cost of random Silver+ (Elite cases).

Yep, that’s how everything works in the steam market. It might make for some weird things though that always end up happening. A character could cost way more in game than it does on the market for example.
