The Stilnotto Stiletto

(NikolaiLev) #1

According to the wiki, compared to the Beckhill, the Stilnotto trades range and quick attack damage (5) for a meager 5 damage on the strong attack. This means the Stilnotto has damages of 35/85 compared to the Beckhill’s 40/80. Their speed values are otherwise the same, making their DPSes 61.8/85 and 70.6/80.

My question is: given the Stiletto has two tradeoffs (range and quick damage) for one benefit (heavy attack damage), why bother? Is it intended to be a weaker melee weapon to balance out more powerful augments on loadout cards? Or is there some hidden strength I’m not seeing? Is the wiki outdated? 85 doesn’t bring it into one-shot territory for 90 hp mercs.

I know melee weapon balance doesn’t come up often, but I feel this is of merit: does the Siletto need a buff?

i think stillnotto is for loadout cards that has good augments

The Stilnotto is weaker than the other melees for the reason you pointed out, but I think that the extra five damage does give it a tiny bit of an edge for fighting players that have already taken some damage. I mean that in the sense that you’re maybe running and boom there’s a Bushwhacker in your face and you don’t have time to do anything except slam the power strike button and hope. If you manage to land that, and he is running from your team and is just as scared as you are because he’s hit and oh my god there’s a stoker and he has a knife, and if his hp is in the right range, then boom, you have a story to tell.

With all that said, that’s a very specific set of prerequisites to be met for the stilnotto to be a superior choice, so yeah, it prolly needs a buff.

I’m not fully certain that stilnotto cards always have better augments, though. I know there’s a Thunder card that has Spares, Drilled and Tough but has a stiletto, but I’m pretty sure there are cards that have stilnottos but are weak.

So, I’m thinking it should get buffs, and work ought to be done on trying to make all augments worthwhile (cough cough Focus).

Stillnotto used to have a 90 damage strong attack, but this changed for some reason. I guess it wouldn’t hurt if that changed again.

Probably to not step on the katana’s toes as a 90 damage strong attack. But then, the Stiletto has much shorter range so I wouldn’t see the problem.

Honestly, if the attack speed for both attacks was increased I’d be happy.
