The stark is amazing at close range.

Am I the only one that plays this way? It honestly seems to me that the stark outshines the M4 (in my hands at least).

My main essentially is stoker right now. His S95 has my favorite rifle, my favorite pistol and two of my favorite perks. He comes with my favorite fire support ability on non EV maps. There is no reason to use any other card right now.

I know that the burst rifles are supposed to be mid-long range, but honestly I dont think thats where the stark works the best. Getting those point blank headshots with the quick switch to pistol for one tap is just too damn good. I cant remember the last time I was using it and thinking “Damn I wish I had the M4 right now.”

The mid-long range thing is a meme made up by nexon forum users who can’t aim.
The burst rifles always (pre and post patch) were ridiculous good at any range.

Funny enough, switching to pistol is slower than just sending another burst. Don’t do yourself such a disservice, especially since Stoker comes with infinite ammo.

I too use Stark at close range but it’s always harder since there’s almost no spray capability, and you put yourself at risk of being 1 shot from shotguns. Being pinpoint precise is much easier when your mouse doesn’t have to cover so much screen acreage. I dunno so much about mid-long being a forum meme, I play mid to long (behind everyone) and always perform much better than up close. Missing a couple shots with a full auto weapon is much less detrimental than missing a burst or two, and if you stay mid to long you just outgun everyone that isn’t using burst or sniper rifles. Stark is a strong anti-sniper weapon and if you can aim well you can do the same headshot/bodyshot combo at a distance, which is always better simply for the fact that their guns are just infinitely weaker at range than yours.

Always feels good being in a Proxy’s face and hearing that DI-DI-DINK one shot though.

Oh I know. But it’s more satisfying.

yup, stark is one of the best guns in the game. undeniable. it has its faults but the better your accuracy the better the weapon.

Burst Rifles are so OP nowadays.

Stark is still good at killing female mercs with 3 shots-head shots, even after the spread nerf…

BR-16? let’s not even talk about that gun.

the amount of burst damage you can pull out within 0.5 sec is just ridiculous with those two…

It’s the same way with the Dreiss and Grandeur on Redeye. They’re great for close range, but can suffer a bit at long range. Especially the Grandeur as firing it at long range is a death sentence since it needs to be fired slow to maintain accuracy or aim down sights (and it doesn’t exactly work as easily as the PDP by ADSing).

Honestly, i find the Dreiss to be one of the most effective guns in the game, along with the Stark. I see people on the forum underestimating both guns a lot. Most tend to favor the BR16, but I just don’t see it. I’m capable of just mowing down entire teams with the Dreiss’s 20 round clip and 2-3 headshots killing-power on certain mercs. At close range, it’s an absolute beast.

I can say the same for the Stark. 2 Bursts to the head and most mercs are dead!

Both Bursts are pretty broken right now, along with the PDP. This has been a thing for months that everyone knows. M4 and Dreiss are kind of useless when they exist because they’re so heavily outclassed now, outside of getting certain augments.

(JJMAJR) #9

Dreiss augments aren’t doing so well right now…

(Tanker_Ray) #10

This is so true.

and @Ford_Prefect , what comes to the fact that you disagree burst rifles aren’t OP?

I can clearly say two burst rifles having longest 29,30m range among all weapons except Dreiss’s 31m and sniper rifles is making them the strongest far distance damage dealing gun without considering how far the enemy is.

and BR-16 does 17 damage 3 times in that short time that cause crazy burst damage along with insane 139 DPS when K-121 fires one and one 17 damage with slow RoF, which has shorter range than BR with much stronger recoil.

fast firing, ammo using? buffed to 30 rounds that made Blishlok cry, can cover that whole problem with Fire Support merc. Especially Arty’s B81 loadout.

rather slow reload? can cover that with Drilled.

Really, the amount of DPS you can pull out with those two is just pure insane.

Those two aren’t even weak at close range, since melting female mercs with single burst is totally available to do.

I’ve got over 5 kills/min with Stark while I got 4 kills/min with other guns before the right nerf it got at Feb, and it is still one of the best gun to cover all ranges with crazy damage and second longest range.

If you can’t believe me, ask @Amerika who taught me Stoker’s S95.

Literally can defeat any good SMGs like Crotzni and Kek, with regular rifles like M4 and Timik.

Stark got the right nerf but still very strong, and BR-16 with only vertical recoil 10% increase? come on.

Heh, I remember when Stoker came out and both bursts were changed and I decided to try them out. I haven’t went back since. As long as you can aim, control and don’t panic they are ridiculous. Especially if you use them like strafing shotguns from distance and get a huge burst out then strafe back to safety. Which is incredibly important when playing against other good players.

I got into so many debates over their value (and about the PDP too) so it does make me laugh a bit. Sometimes people simply need to learn and test things for themselves instead of going with the judgement of the masses.

However, I do hope that DB isn’t headed towards, “this is the new OP thing nerf it” which has happened to other games. There will always be something that people feel is too good and it seems that DB is definitely headed down that rather horrible rabbit hole and I don’t want it to.

I’m in that Dreiss minority I suppose :frowning:
