The solution to how to fix that "Brink has stopped working" error!

(Enforced) #1

So I pre-ordered the game, then I finally got it. I immidiately tried to install it and I had no problems. The installation was wonderful, no errors. When Steam had some 200-300 MB more to load I’d let him do that. NOW I thought I could play I start Brink and after that Banner/Logo/w.e. it is I got that error “Brink has stopped working” blablabla, I was like okay…

So I

  • updated my driver
  • reinstalled directx (or updated)
  • updated that vrbasic or w.e. its called
  • HECK even diabled SOUND in BIOS

started it, still error. ****ed up.

THEN

I was like “maybe the installation lagged or something and it couldnt repack or pack or extract files, I will just UNINSTALL and then install again”… was a waste of time, still didnt work.

I was like **** this **** doesnt work… but I had yet one simple idea, maybe it was STEAM, with all those games I’ve on STEAM! So what did I do? I UNINSTALLED STEAM! And voila when I DELETLED ALL STEAM FILES I FOUND ON MY PC and DOWNLOADED THE LATEST STEAM APP AND INSTALLED Brink for the last time, it really worked for me, I COULD PLAY.

BUT WAIT? YOU COULD? WHAT HAPPEND?

Yes. I could. I could create my char but I had fps rates of 15-20… not even that high idk the real number, but it was slow as hell…

Then the game suddenly stopped working… I was like WTF okay happens, then I chose my char and IMMIDIATELY started the campaing, BOOM it lagged me out, NO ERROR MSG but my game froze and there we go… I was like “Okay I gotta change graphics” … I removed fullscreen and set resolution to 12xx * 7xx … now when I start the game … I see the black window saying “Brink” but when I hear the first ADS sound and see “Press SHIFT TAB to join chat on steam” it goes off (the game) and I get no error msg, nothing…

I got a 24" TFT, 19xx*10xx

Intel Core Duo 3,0
4 GB Ram
5770 ATI RADEON

w.e. it is way enough for such a game… it shouldnt lag at all… -.- So thats what happend, any way I can get my money back, grr… :stroggtapir:

EDIT: Now I am tired, I wont do **** anymore, not even if a mods posts… I am so pissed… I want my money back or I want you to get a ****ing nice update out, you owe me that one for making me get pissed so much… and my 13th friday started so good… you splashdamage or w.e. company you are ****ed my day up, thanks a lot… :frowning:

Hi there, thanks for posting.

We’re looking into this issue. In the meantime, setting your Texture Quality to Low in the Advanced Graphics Settings menu may improve your FPS. You can also try disabling Ambient Occlusion.

Trust me, when I changed my resolution it was because I disabled all my graphicially options available. I even changed texture and shadows to “medium” there was no “low” option… and everything else was disabled… this game is soo ****ed up…

Wow!!! Way for these people to rip anyone off!!! I’ve tried for days to get this game working and no luck!!! I’ve tried every solution!!! Everybody and i mean everybody has this problem!!! Never again trusting these people!!! Why release a game that no1 can play!!! Even if it started what wuld be the point since there are hundreds of framerate issues!!! I culd have spent my 50 bucks on donating to charity but instead i wasted it on a crappy game that won’t even work!!!

+6-days, Crispy. Anything more current to add? BTW, your suggestions, turning off all the contemporary features of my cards pushes my experience back 5-years. Doing these things isn’t a “workaround”, this is an open admission that SD did very little, if any testing and that SD respects their customers even less.
