The sense of leveling up

(bwort110) #1

I don’t see a sense right now. Is something planned like rewards something else to unlock? I mean I just play comp and my goal is to get higher ranks. The leveling is beside and I see no sense. In other games u unlock things, advantages , whatever. Here u just level up. Anyone know something about it?

Leveling up is useless once you reach the ranked game.
Just ignore it

(bwort110) #3

I think that can be improved. Also it makes no sense for pub players. It’s the good old carrot system, which is lacking here.

(Lumi) #4

It has been discussed elsewhere maybe two months ago. I’m not even sure if I was the one starting the thread. Missmurder commented on it, saying that they’re aware of the lack of interest in levelling up and promised a rework of the levelling system, but that it would come more down the line as there are more pressing issues that need fixing.

(ludicrousBlast) #5

It does give you cases, which can be a nice bonus, but otherwise pretty useless. Basically just says how much time you have put into the game.

After the aura station exploit not even that is reliable anymore.

I would rather a credit bonus than a free case. Maybe an elite case every 10 levels?

(Feley) #8

I suggested somewhere something like super case per level up… it would give you chance of getting iron 80%, bronze 15%, sliver 3%, gold 1,5% and cobalt 0,5%
I would really like to see this, as it doesn’t really have much better chances, but still is decent for leveling up…

Agreed, extras are always nice, though I’d rather we be able to receive more than just credits and cases/loadouts before a reward system is added to levels.

I feel like the recent XP abuse would have been a lot worse if there were actual rewards already in place. For once I’m glad the levelling system is just there for the sake of it.

I would love to see a merc levelling system. Meaning that the more you gain xp with a certain merc the higher his/her level and for each level you’ll get a random loadout for that merc, with the higher the level, the higher the rarity of the loadout. Let’s say for level 20 on you’d get silver, etc… Of course it would have to be balanced but it would be nice imo.

Sadly there is no reason to level right now, currently it’s nothing more but a tool to show how experienced players are. But like people have mentioned before in this thread there have been some discussions about it already on the forums and it also has been mentioned a couple of times on streams.

I’d personally be fine even without a leveling system. I mean back in the day when still playing Quake III Arena there was no leveling system at all and people still had tons of fun. But yeah, times have changed and leveling systems are a thing in FPS games now. Hopefully we’ll get a rework of the leveling system soon.

Also: mastery tiers for mercs, yes please.

I hate that I like the feeling of progression levelling gives you, but I’d be happier without it overall. Since we do have it, though, it would be nice if it actually did something - even some purely cosmetic bonuses would be fine by me.

So Elite would be better than Super on 2 grades??

I prefer Super cases to be up to bronze with higher rate on bronze(about 10 times more).

Yeah, elite cases are one you pay money for… Super cases would be something you would get every level… it’s still better than normal… but idea with bronze being worst loot in case is also good, but not the best for SD, since people wouldn’t even care about elite cases (they would already be happy with bronze ones which they’ve gotten with leveling up)

Tbh I wouldn’t get very excited with a supercase that has 80% chance on iron lol.

Hahaha, I guess neither would I, but is still better than normal case :stuck_out_tongue: (Bronze being worst in case is still too much per level)

Edit: Now that I think of it, there is ~5 times chances of getting iron, 5 times chances of getting bronze, double chance of getting silver, 3x of getting gold and 5x of getting cobalt… If you put that that way, it’s pretty decent.

(PlayingUndead) #17

I hate progression systems, but if you guys wanna basically hand me free skins and mercs just because I played, go nuts! And thanks! <3

(Amerika) #18

You used to be able to level up your mercs while also leveling up your account. That’s mostly all been taken out completely though and I have no clue if they will appear again.

(Ghosthree3) #19

For what purpose?

(Amerika) #20

I believe it was used to slowly unlock taunts and to show time played with each character and each Merc could be leveled up to 10. Somebody might be able to add more though as I didn’t play that build much as most of my time came from the build after the transition to Steam.

I would honestly be onboard with a Merc leveling system than an account one assuming there is a set level limit per merc. Or keep your personal level private since it’s only real usage these days tends to be negative.
