So, I started with me Phantom as many do: sprinting at people while cloaked, swinging like a mad man.
However, I have been edumacated through these very forums and, while I hope I don’t sound like an asshole speaking down to people, I’d like to give some advice for people looking to play him well.
Refractive armour:
Most useful at slower paced, however sprinting across the open can be used against newer players.
Staying at medium range keeps the ringing quiet, meaning people won’t hear you.
Don’t be afraid to turn the armour off if you don’t need it, saving cool down is always beneficial.
Weapons:
Katana isn’t always the best option, though it is a one shot kill if your proficient at Melee and in the right situation.
The kek is considered one of the best smgs, but if you find yourself in situations where you are able to chain headshots effectively, consider the Crotzni or Blishlock. The blish especially has INSANE headshot dmg, so train up.
General advice:
Engage from close medium range, and hip-aim at their head. Even if they move, you can get high initial damage.
Wait. If they are reloading or not looking at you, strike. They’ll be confused and panicked, and have terrible aim.
On a similar note, if someone less tanky then you (I’d say up to about skyhammer in terms of hp) is running straight at you but hasn’t noticed you yet, engage. They will probably jump or go backwards, meaning you can have a good time chaining headshots.
If your ever outnumbered or surprised, run away and try to cloak. Phantom is not that fast or strong, so don’t wait til the last second.
