The Patch Thread

(Hubschrauber) #1

Hello. I made a special trip with my xbox to my girlfriend’s house to download the Brink patch. I brought it home, expecting to be able to at least put a dent in “Be More Objective” three-stars, and it’s the same stuff all over again. Getting one shotted as soon as I lean around a corner, slide dodging/shooting does absolutely nothing, if I kill three guys in a row by some miracle it still isn’t enough since the rest of the team is en route to me at once, you know, that kind of stuff.

So I’m assuming that there has been no real fix for the bots yet. Thus, that is the purpose of this thread. I want to be able to track how many patches there are, what they are said to fix, and their date of release.

Nope, this isn’t just about bots. Yup, this is about anything that SD has patched or needs to patch. So anyone who knows about the patches and knows (not thinks they know) what the patches are said to fix, fill us all in.

I’d ask that this thread be stickied, but that’s a really tall order. If I were a mod, I totally would. I know I’m not the only one who wants to keep track of the patches. Without these patches, I honestly feel like I’m still waiting for Brink to come out. Will it ever release? Superbot Hell is a lonely, sweaty place.

For one, the bots were made harder in the update, not easier.

You know what, I thought I noticed that.

Is this some kind of mean joke from SD? I mean, how many of you out there thought that the enemy team’s bots were just pushovers? You gotta be kidding me. This is unbelievable. Hey, Brink is worth 40 bucks on Ebay, maybe I ought to cash in while I still can.

This game has only provided about one or two instances of joy. The rest, frustration, and it’s because of bots. If I wanted to play an aimbotting twelve year old, why would I buy Brink? and why would I think they had the intent of making Brink an aimbotting twelve year old spree?

The bots ARE easy if you understand how they play. After years of playing FPS, adjusting how i play to trends in the enemy is something i do out of habit. And the bots in Brink follow strict patterns. I don’t actually think I’m all that good pvp, but the bots have enough crippling weaknesses that i pretty much never lose to them (except in co-op ironically)

If you arent having fun playing bots though, then theres no need to. The three-star objectives have no purpose beyond the leaderboards. The campaign can be set to medium or easy.

I’ve already gone through both the Security and Resistance campaigns on Hard. All of the other challenge modes are simple to me except for Be More Objective 3, and that’s because it’s broken. I know what you mean about the bot weaknesses. In Container City as Resistance, I mowed down every security member who got near the gate like taking candy from a baby. They didn’t get inside the gate, or even plant a charge on it.

On other maps, however, I do get one-shotted sometimes, and my team’s AI is moronic.

Be more objective 3 is it’s own beast. It’s pure torture unless you do it as level 1, but I don’t want to do that. Why should I have to? Level scaling? If it’s affecting me to the point where I can barely get near the generator, something’s wrong here. I can’t be expected to fight the whole team alone.

I’m not sure why this is a sure sign to make the AI more difficult. Maybe they want to be cute and fight fire with fire so to speak? Polish the turd and whatnot.

In short, because the AI are being balanced for multiplayer, not the challenges.

In multiplayer, the hard bot teammates were found to be lacking, so SD made them harder. This makes “Be More” harder by extension, but that’s unintended. I don’t think its all that important anyway, since the 3-star challenges are supposed to be for bragging rights. The ranking will still work in the same way no matter how hard they are, the best will be at the top.

The game does have its flaws, as every game does, but I think you will have more fun if you just acknowledge them and move on. You don’t go to the park and set your picnic down next to the only pile of dog ****.

I dunno. I guess it just annoys me that there’s an achievement for doing all of them three star, and it’s easy all except for the broken one that rapes me with level scaled bots. That one little problem is the only thing keeping me from working my way toward 1000 gamerscore. Yes, I know that playing a game solely for achievements is stupid, I agree. I play games because they provide a challenge and because the gamerscore gives it it’s own replayability.

If they took away the level scaling for “Be More Objective”, I’d have no problem with the bots for the most part. Just knowing that this is the reason why I’ll have 900 gamerscore in the end pisses me off.

Ok, i pasted my thread on reply on the patch thread.

grtz.

Ok, first off : Bravo Splash Damage for making such a great game ! allthough i have some minor thing that i wanted to bring to your attention.

  • When going from hipfire to aim down sights it’s not possible to fire… this made me get killed allot so that’s kind of annoying.

  • The light and operative class are too underpowerd.

  • Sometimes the AI shoot’s through the wall, by instance : In the beginning of Container city on the Brigde kinda thing.

  • I saw that on playstation, your friends get a purple colour and allso some kind of squad option. I would love to see this to on pc. ( Edit , it’s allready in-game , Sorry )

  • A menu like the objective wheel, but with character “talk” options. Like saying : “ok” “go” “thanks”. that sort of thing.

  • If possible, It would be much cooler if the characters could run a little faster.

  • The Rhett Ar assault rifle has way less ammo then the other Rifles. I love this gun but the lack of ammo is not fair.

  • Since the last patch the game run’s great. Allthough sometimes word’s or names are really weird ( looks like glitch or some kind of alien language ).

That are actually the only things i can think off that i really want changed.
This game is awesome, make it a little more

Thanks, Splash damage.
