The objective wheel

(Nuarda) #1

One of the things that is bugging me in BRINK is that when you open up the objective wheel, it automaticly turns your view towards the target objective.
wich can be handy but i find it highly annoying
would or maybe is there a option to turn this off?
i would like to KEEP watching in the direction im watching while selecting my objective.
after that it will be highlighted anyhow, so i can find it out.
but now when im covering something it turns away and i dont see what im covering.

also there is a thing that needs to change in the following:
when your team needs to destroy a door for example, and your not the class that can do it, it says “defend the door” but when your defending it also says “defend the door”
i noticed many players get confused by this… wait are we attacking or defending…
maybe it should say “assist assaulting the door” and “assist defending the door” (or hacking device or what so ever…)

This needs sorting out +1

Also when you are buffing team mates, the auto run needs to be fixed. Auto run leads to auto death.

Maybe there should be a setting where you can turn this on and off like toggle crouch and hold for irons because I actually like both these features.

It’s a novel idea that just doesn’t work and it discourages people from quickly selecting new objectives. Just a short delay before you start turning towards the objective would suffice.

Fully agree. My personal suggestions would be:

  • Get rid of the “I’ll rotate you for selecting certain objectives until you vomit” feature. Selecting an objective causes a huge icon to pop up, turning the camera in the direction of that icon is completely unnecessary and only leads to deaths because you can’t see enemies incoming etc.

  • Make the buffing of teammates an instant effect, so remove the slower animations, thus getting rid of the “auto follow when buffing resulting in auto death” feature.

  • Reword the text for certain objectives. When attacking the missile launcher that needs to be hacked as an Operative it says “Hack the missile controls” whereas if you do the same thing as an Engineer it states “Defend the missile controls”. This should be tuned into “Attack the missile controls” or “Assist hacking the missile” as it makes it utterly confusing at times what to do, whether you’re the attacking/defending team etc. On our server that we run for The Conclave quite a few people lose sight of what they’re supposed to do because of simple small mistakes like this in the game. But it’s something easily addressed.

You can turn off the objective wheel auto look in the gameplay options.

(Hueco) #7

Turning can be disabled:

options > gameplay > Objective wheel auto look > deselect

Done.

Likewise, I completely overlooked that one. Cheers for pointing it out.

Yeah I don’t know what you’re playing it on but you can definitley turn it off. what I don’t like is that the objective wheel is baded on DIRECTION so when you choose and objective wherever that objective lies in the wheel is actually what you’ve chosen, so when the obectives are added onto they move within the wheel while your redicule stays pointing the same direction.

So you’re maually chosen objectives change all the damn time, that really bugs me because sometimes I just want to find the mines or cunstruct stairs and I get lost because I was running towards something but while I was doing that my objective wheel changed and my pointer is pointing at something different all the sudden.

im playing on the PC we dont have that issue there i think.
btw splash please do look into the objective descriptions as mentioned above, they can really be confusing i think… not sure what others think ofcource but from what i seen… loads of confusion

yes, for classes that dont have specific roles, all it says is defend the objective, when what it really means is say… hack the objective, then defend it.

I also hate that i can only move forward when objective wheel is on and it blocks whole screen. It really slows game flow and discourages from using it for smaller class based objectives.

When you see “GUARD” in the objective wheel it means your team is on offense and you have to GUARD the place so your objective class can complete it.

Wheel says DEFEND only when you are on defense.

Hmm I think we should start a “Here’s some helpful info” thread.
