The Minimap...

The only thing we need on the minimap is teammate position and view direction. I believe we already have that. Mission accomplished.

What we don’t need are stupid little markers or direction indicators for when shots are fired by the enemy team. We don’t even need any indication when a friendly teammate is shooting.

I think “shots fired” indicators are one of the worst things to be used in FPS and vastly reduces skill and immersion.

Agreed - players should need to rely on soundings for this, rather than visual indicators.

it would be annoying to look at radar for sound detection, seems more like a distraction
As far as I know:

 • No

 • Not with any of the game menus, but you used to be able to do it through config file editing. I never bothered so I can’t confirm if it is still possible or not.

 • Maybe through config editing, not sure.

 • You do know that charging up the paddles give more health on revive? How would you charge a syringe?

 • IFF = Identifier Friend / Foe. It’s a military term that seems to have been adopted in gaming to represent all HUD markers applied to player entities, not just team identification but other status info like health, short on ammo, awaiting revive, etc…
As a follow-up, you can actually change the mini-map zoom in config, you can’t change an individual HUD elements size, but you can change their position.

The minimap is too small? At least on my screen :mad:

Lower your resolution. :tongue:

For me the mini-map is too big, but that’s because it exists.

1920x1080 nice resolution? But we need a setting to make it larger and for you smaller :smiley:

Thank you Djiesse and Mustang for answering!

I myself also would like to follow up … i am a config-person and like to fiddle within this field (although i am by no means a big expert on that. Humbleness aside … i am coming from q2/q3/et and having fiddled with teamsay-message-building scripts for Itemtimings for RA/YA/Runes which rebind numpad keys to get a nice message out … i would like to add that i really like the possibilites the UT Engine offers!

Currently while slowly setting up the GUI to my liking i am looking for a way to enlarge the displayed minimap area. (mind you, not the zoom-level … i am concerned about the x/y-size of the displayed square on screen) … is there some info on how to put some settings in the config which let me change it?

For what is solved i re-quote the fine entries of the following Thread: http://forums.warchest.com/showthread.php/33070-Dirty-Bomb-Technical-Pro-Tips?highlight=minimap

(solved) in ShooterUI.ini:

[ShooterGame.SGUIHUDMiniMap]
m_MiniMapScale=0.5

(partially solved) position of minimap - in ShooterUI.ini:

[ShooterGame.SGUIHUDPlayer]
MinimapPosition=(Align=(V=HA_TOP), Attach=(H=HA_RIGHT, V=HA_TOP))
