The M4A1 VS the Timik-47

(SteelMailbox) #1

So this topic was always an interesting one for me since the M4 was always a better choice but a lot of people preferred the Timik.
Recently if you don’t know the Timik got a buff so I decided that today I will clean the dust off of this garbage of a gun and see if it is any good, I was pleasantly surprised by how much this weapon changed ever since I last used it (close around the Phantom OP time). I decided to make this thread on which AR is better.

Let me start this off by saying, there is no better gun. It is all preference. What suits you is the better choice.

M4A1:
This gun was dominating the AR category for a long time (a close second was the BR-16 but the amount of skill it took and it’s usefulness in CQB were annihilated by the M4). There was no reason to not use this weapon.
It’s main traits were:

 • High accuracy
 • Moderate damage

SD started to understand this fact and decided to nerf the weapon in the 2nd “Fine tuning” patch.
But was that the end for the M4? well…
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4WO0mirjlQ
So the M4 was still dominating it was just a shadow of it’s former self but it kept these two main traits.
The weapon was left untouched in the 3rd “Fine tuning” patch so it is basically still a shadow of it’s former self with the two main traits.

The Timik-47:
Ah the good ol AK, I mean, Timik-47.
It seems that SD decided to take the CS:GO approach to balance the M4 and the Timik but it never got the spotlight.
The Timik-47’s main traits were:

 • High DPS
 • Fast reload

It was in my 1st silver card and I loved it back then but I decided to notice issues that were kind of… well… challenging. 1st off there is the recoil: it is the only weapon I can actually feel recoild when using.
2nd was the horrible iron sights. Seriously those iron sights are so bad I rather try to hip fire at long range with a S&W.
So I switched.
SD understood it, so they buffed the weapon in the 3rd “Fine tuning” patch.
I decided today to pick up the dust from this AR and take it for a spin. I started horribly, it wasn’t easy transferring M4 skills to the Timik but about half of the match in it started performing well, really well. Until I played nothing but Timik Skyhammer for 5 full stopwatch matches (God I love vacations).
They seem to buff the weapon in a way that made the M4 VS Timik a more of a preference thing than which is best.

To sum it up I recommend everyone to clean the dust from their Timiks and use it for a few rounds and see how you like it.

Nothing personal, just Recoil pattern.

Timik has same damage as M4, only more rof and dps and lower control. Just saying.

(DMaster2) #4

M4 is better imho

(MercifuL) #5

I still think that the AK should be the one with less RoF and Higher Damage, while the M4 should be a more accurate low damage higher rof weapon. The AK should be like the CSGO AK imo.

M4A1, always liked it more.

(CCP115) #7

I wanna love the Timik more.

It looks cooler.

I stiil feel like the insane vertical recoil from the Timik is not worth the minimal RoF and Reload speed you get from it, plus all the Timik card are pretty much trash. If Skyham had a card with the timik with Explody+Unshake then it might be a different story.

If they keep decreasing the recoil and spread on the AK it’ll eventually become a carbon copy of the M4, I suggest leaving the accurary as it is but increase the dmg by +1 or slightly increase the RoF to make it more of a high-skill ceiling weapon.

BR16 FTW!!!

The M4A1 seems to shoot paperbullets compared to the timik. I have always preferred hard-hitting weapons. Recoil and spread can be mitigated with experience.

The m4 and the Timik both hit for 28 damage per bullet. The main difference between the two guns is that the Timik has a slightly (very slight) rate of fire advantage but at the cost of more recoil and a bit of range. They even have the same mag size. The M4 is a lot more consistent with it’s fire pattern and it comes with better augments on Skyhammer so it’s typically preferred.

He meant the headshot damage… come on you could have figured that out

The timik has quite a lot more spread and recoil (i dont have the numbers right here but im pretty sure it was over 30%).

m4 is easier to handle and all round a supreme killer. I now play timik occasionally for novelty value.

Sorry. My brain tends to think of everything in HS damage.

I use the M4 for serious play. I use the Timik for the fun

After really digging my heels in and giving the timik a go, I found that I’m actually more effective with it than the M4. Recoil management isn’t THAT bad, and a faster reload is always nice. I’ve even heard people complain about the sights, which I find odd. I can use them quite nicely.

That being said I prefer AR’s over AK pattern rifles in reality. Bunk shoulder makes 7.62 a bitch.
