yeah, limey was from when we ruled the world and nobody wanted to sell us lemons, i think they helped stop scurvy, so we had limes instead, which werent as good.
i learn more from watching QI on Dave (tv channel) than when i was at school! :)
Ha! QI is great. And yes: Any citrus helps prevent scurvy (it’s the vit C I believe).
its weird that US people seem to think of us over here as all posh (and bad teeth if you watch family guy) as most of us are from working class background and the UK is one of the biggest warring nations in history, i would far sooner have some english beast on my side that some skinny punk with a gun.
its odd, its not like we think all yanks are stupid and fat is it ?
j/k
Countries normally get judged on their holidaymakers and their loudest members. The average people who are polite and normal aren’t remembered because they don’t stand out as much as the obnoxious members who pee’ed on the rug before insulting your sister.
It annoys me so much when someone scoffs at Americans as “fat and stupid” and honestly means it. I ask them if they’ve ever been to America and their response is (99% of the time) “No! Why would I want to? It’s full of Americans.” Idiots
The holidays I’ve had in America have been great and the Americans I’ve met have been some of the friendliest people in the world. On the other hand some of the “yoofs” in the UK have been some of the thickest, most self-entitled leeches I’ve ever met.
I used to live in South Africa… if it wasn’t for that I’d add violent to the UK “yoofs” but SA is a … special place
