The ironsights

(tokamak) #1

I really hope the sights of the gun will be adjustable in the full game because the base guns are just terrible in this aspect. The sights obscure a lot of your vision.

Now, ironsights already play a rather small roll in this game but letting them be so unwieldy isn’t helping much. I guess that the different sights were born out of a desire to have very different looking weapons in the game but eventually all a player really wants is a nice holographic reflex sight on his weapon as that’s what suits this style of playing the most.

Well, I think that’s a part of the give and take with the iron sights. I’ve used them with a bit of success, but I never bring them up except for mid-long range aiming and I’m behind cover of some sort.

Iron sights are iron sights. They sucked when I was in the military and I earned my marksmanship award. Since NONE of the weapons in DB, except the sniper rifles, have optics, I wouldn’t be surprised if that stuff is added later as weapon XP awards or GC purchases.

Hope it doesn’t come across like fanboying you, but I’m again of the same opinion as you; one of the reasons why I prefer the 2nd Engie is, that his sights are partially open and don’t obstruct nearly as much as some of the other weapons. I got rid of every sight on all of the weapons I used in Brink, cause I wasn’t using them at all. But DB’s gun-game is a bit different and there are many ocassions where I feel the need to peek through my sights. I’m really a guy who has enough of ARs with EO-Techs mounted on them; I’ve seen enough of them and they look, opposed to iron sights, very boring and generic, but then again, there’s a reason why they are using them in RL.

Agree I love the engi2 iron sight, followed by the fdops2 and then fdops1

(INF3RN0) #5

I find all the iron sights about as easy as the rest. I like the design on eng2 the most however as it is the least obstructive. I vote for etqw style optical sights or reddots in the future though!

totally agree!!!

(Senethro) #7

Can we get a separate sensitivity slider for ironsights pls?

(.FROST.) #8

You mean like in Blacklight? It’s not exclusive to iron sights there though. It slows down your general movement speed* when you are aiming at someone; regardless if you are using ironsights, red-dot sights, or scopes.

*as much or little as you like. Or not at all, if you prefer it that way.

That’s a pretty good idea.

Fops2 (artillery) easily has the best ironsights which is the main reason why it’s my favourite class.

That said, I think fops2’s weapon needs to be swapped with fops1. The mp5 seems to function better at close range than whatever fops1 is carrying. So artillery works better in conjunction with a longer range weapon and airstrikes work better in conjunction with a short range weapon.

Yes that as well.

Right now I simply have no idea how ironsights really relate to hipfire because of the visibility and the sensitivity are messing things up.

PERSONAL OPINION AND OBVIOUS AGENDA TO MAKE IRONSIGHTS MORE PREVALENT BELOW. PLEASE DON’T COLLATE WIT THE ABOVE:
And I may be dead wrong about this but after some testing the ironsights seem to have more recoil than hipfire. Which is a bit backwards, any gun has a lot less kick when you get to put your shoulder into it.

I can think of a way to fix all iron sight problem

+1 on separate ironsight sensitivity bar.

(Shiv) #12

I totall agree on the ironsight sensitivity bar, I was playing some planetside 2 (doesnt have a seperate sens for iron) but. In the ironsight view itself the sensitivity was a bit lower, it felt natural. Currently in DB it seems to be the same sense between iron sight and standard. For the assault rifles at least. Which throws me off when iron sighting.

I basically removed iron sights from the key I would normally use it on other games. I think it is more of a distraction then anything… When I first started playing, I was using them always, just as a normal reaction. I couldn’t stop… and I was always losing gun fights.

Stopped using them, and things improved greatly… for me they could be dropped all together. There are very few times, I actually find them useful. When the game goes live, and the flood of people join and do what I did, it will be frustrating It think. People will be wondering why they don’t work like they do in COD, BF etc…

If people call for balancing for them more and more, I would hate to see them have to be used more in the game mechanic… I would rather them be used less.

(Hyperg) #14

Sneaky…

Yup, as long as they are in the game, it would be a bit better to control them separately, given pretty much everyone uses them for mid-long range engagements, where lowering the sens would help a bit. Right now it can be simulated from the mouse levels, like I do, but adding an extra button to press in the heat of battle is a bit meh.

(Reacto) #15

Really need separate iron sight sensitivity, it’s way too high!

(Ca9ine) #16

This.^

I take it many of us have an on-the-fly sensitivity button on our mice.
I personally never use it though, if I try to, I tend to forget in the heat of battle.

A sensitivity slider for ironsights is a grand idea.

I’m going to admit that I’ve not really used the ironsights much. I’m just used to hip-firing too much
