The Hud...

(PixelTwitch) #1

Now this is a very basic request from the perspective of a video creator…

Is there any chance we can get the option to have the original styled HUD from the original videos that you uploaded (from Alpha). Video wise it works much better and enables the text to be easily readable with very little distortion after YouTube re-encodes the footage.

Hijacking this thread, didn’t feel like creating a new one.

Can the objective descriptions please be removed from the HUD? They’re only appropriate the first time playing. After that they should either be removed or be optional.

Currently the text really is the biggest source of clutter in the HUD. A player only needs the symbols.

Player visibility is problematic. It’s very heavy-handed. Right now enemies are easier to identify than team-mates which should be vice versa. The colouring really takes out the aesthetics as well as the option to play more discretely. And player names appearing above their heads only add to this. The names are barely readable from a distance or during action so they really only serve as target inicators.

With the eye on the beta and lifting of the NDA it would really be appreciated if HUD could be cleared with a hotkey.

Yes, we need this; sometimes I feel like experienced players specifically position themselves so as to be obstructed by walls of text on the enemy’s hud. Its really frustrating to score a headshot in between ‘p’ and ‘l’ in ‘plant c4’

I think visibility is okay, I’d rather have too much than too little, in this type of game especially.

I agree though that we need more ways to customize the hud.

I swear Paul was hiding behind the dropped carriable on purpose today. The text around it completely obscured him.

Visibility is important and insufficient visibility will only prompt more people to tweak their settings down. But only from an aesthetic point alone this needs to be looked into. Hue changes layered on top of the models is ugly as hell. Either use textures or constrast differences to make players stand out.

I feel ya.

Perhaps instead of trying to make the enemies more visible, you could try to make the teammates stand out. Thus; by contrast, anything ELSE that moves should be shot at. Will also allow for unmoving enemies to be a little sneakier.

This worked well in QW on no-red-arrow on enemy’s servers. It takes an hour to get used too, but then you just assume that whatever doesn’t have friendly IFF, is an enemy.

with friendly fire off everything that moves is a target, just some waste ammo, turn ff on, then people will care

Could the objective markers not fade off when looking towards them as well?
Similair to Titanfall- I dont think i ever felt the “objective” markers in that were obtrusive.

And i really dont need the text, and or them to be so big on my screen.

QW was so much more fun without red arrows!

Yes but that only solves part of the problem. The further you are away from the activity, the more objective markers there will be in the screen. Most of the time they’re also completely unreadable as the words overlap.

Currently it’s still possible to engage in combat while there’s lots of far-away markers crowding up your hud.

If newbies not knowing where to go is a concern then you’ll achieve more by giving the most important tasks as a fixed list in their hud. Then they can easily read it and find the corresponding symbol floating around in hud-space. Gamers really are intelligent enough to figure that out.

Style to many things in the middle of the screen, I hate the obj notification in the middle of the screen, you can’t see **** !

HUD is the last thing that needs looking at right now.

(tokamak) #11

Agreed, that’s why it needs to be less visible.
