The Grandeur?

Well it was bound to happen. Unfortunately now this gun is unusable.

Shame too, with the ‘exploit’ the weapon was fantastic, better than the PDP even. The only thing holding this gun back is it’s terribly obstructive iron sights.

I encourage everyone to participate in the discussion here, where developers mentioned some ideas for the gun:

Yea I totally agree. The command also helped alot with the visual recoil. I still love Red Eye tho, even tho he’s not as strong as the other mercs :frowning:

My wishlist for minor tweaks to Grandeur

  1. Hipfire shares ADS spread pattern and then,

  2. Reduce horizontal sway but increase vertical kick and,

  3. If it isn’t already, first shot should be 100% accurate with a 500ms reset

The weapon handling challenge in this is to allow players with sufficient skill to land a headshot on trigger pull, compensate for recoil and second tap for a finisher making this weapon a double tap marksman’s rifle.

Benchmark weapon in another game would be the EBR in Insurgency. Excellent single shot accuracy off and on optics but horrendous vertical kick.

What is wrong with Grandeur right now?

RNG.

I have good aim. But when I track enemies perfectly and only 1 of 5 bullets go where I aimed - it gets tiresome. Skilled players do not enjoy RNG.

Grandeur atm has CSGO’s mp5 spread fired in slow motion. While SMGs in DB feels like they have tighter spread firing much faster.

Red Eye the recon marksman has an accuracy by volume weapon by default. That’s irony.

@Amerika 's assessment that the Grandeur has a high skill cap is inaccurate. The Granduer is random. That’s why it is hard to use.

first hipfire shot is pretty accurate. It can reliably score HS at mid-range if your aim is right.

(Amerika) #126

Yup. It is the way it is right now with further shots being more random because if it wasn’t it would be a better Dreiss. Same goes with the sway control while using ADS. I like removing RNG elements from the game but pretty much every gun in this game has some amount of RNG and part of the skill cap is being able to adjust to it.

I still mostly want the sights changed.

@Amerika

I don’t know if I agree with it being a better Dreiss

With the Dreiss I can spam it quite easily with little to no problem, with the Grandeur I gotta have a lot more control and careful timing of my shots.

It’s a higher risk higher reward for sure, but definitely a better cqb weapon for sure.

(Amerika) #128

That’s why I said it would be a better Dreiss if some of the random elements were removed after the first shot. I didn’t say it was currently a better Dreiss.

I’d currently describe it as a “Dreiss, but worse” when being mobile and a “PDP, but worse” when ADS’ing. It does both OK but excels at neither.

Maybe but I think it also depends largely on other factors, like the bloom per shot, the starting accuracy, reload times, aim times, etc.

I think the Grandeur could have better intital starting accuracy to make it more consistent to hipfire at longer distances, but bigger bloom so you have to wait a bit between shots to nail those shots consistently.

Where the Dreiss could keep it’s current starting accuracy, and got much less bloom and better recovery, so you can safely spam it from the hip but it’s still all in all a closer ranged weapon than the Grandeur.

It’s really hard to explain since I don’t have the math to illustrate angles, spread, etc. But I hope you get where I am coming from at least. Slower harder hitting hipfire from the Grandeur for long range, faster and easier to control hipfire from the Dreiss for close ranges.

Well this is interesting. Apparently the Grandeur’s design originally had a scope on it. Looks like a 2x scope.
