the game server sometimes is lagging (my ping never goes over 60)

Who has the same problem? lagging with low ping value. Sometimes even if my ping went over 40, its gonna start lagging. anyone knows why?

could be your shitty internet connection or potato pc

The scoreboard doesn’t update with your ping very often and it won’t tell you what kind of packet loss you have. You need to troubleshoot your connection to look for packet loss. Also, since you’re on wifi, you might be getting interference. Especially if you’re on a 2.4gh connection. Also, depending on the WiFi you’re on, it could be getting saturated by other users in the house. A wireless G connection can easily get saturated from somebody using Netflix.

Also, you should check to see if your PC’s CPU is overheating. One of the biggest causes of lag in PC gaming is a CPU that is overheating. It takes only a few minutes to troubleshoot.

If other people on the server aren’t lagging at all then it’s either your connection or your hardware is overheating.

3 MB/s is the potatoest internet I have ever seen. Average is something like 50 I think. I myself have 70.
But the download speed doesn’t affect your ping much as far as I know.

Since you are connected using wifi, this might explain why you are lagging. Try buying a cable and see how much it improves

Other than that I don’t understand much in those stuff so I can’t help : 3

Try these things (some have already been mentioned but **** it)

  1. Try using an ethernet cable
  2. Turn off any programs that have auto-updates enabled (apart from anti-virus for obvious reasons)
  3. Turn off steam updates while playing
  4. Turn off any download programs (torrents etc)
  5. If ethernet is not an option, try moving the wifi antenna or if its a laptop closer to the router.
  6. Try moving your router to a better/central position in the house if it is an option or at least change the direction of the antennas on the router (if you have them)
  7. If its someone else soaking up all the internet, consider getting a router with QoS tables (if your savvy enough) or check your router setting to see if there are already QoS in place, enabling WMM could help.
  8. If ethernet is not an option, consider getting a better wireless adapter and or router.
  9. You could change the wireless channel on the router as your neighbours routers could be running on the same channel which can cause interference, use a wifi anaylzer either on your pc or on your mobile (via an app) and see if there are any conflicts.
